It is September 15th 1943. Allied armies have landed on the Italian mainland and are beginning to consolidate their forces and push inland. Opposite them, a massive German army and the few Italians that chose to fight with them stand ready to fight back.
The fate of Italy and Europe at large rests on the outcome of this confrontation. You and your comrades will determine that outcome. Which flag will you fight under?
CAMPAIGN RESTART
This campaign will take place over a series of stages consisting of battles of various sizes. The narrative of this campaign is entirely on the shoulders of you the player. There is no set outcome other than that which you fight for.
Normal battle rules will apply for all battles. Players will be required to choose one and only one character with which to play in this campaign. There is no official limit on the number of battles you may participate in, but if you take part in one battle you may be barred from future battles in favor of a player who has not.
NPC units will be pre-set and supplied, you will not have to use your own NPCs. Unit numbers and the map will not be revealed until after player participation has been confirmed.
Sign-ups will be posted for each individual battle. Sign-ups for the first stage of the campaign will be posted shortly.
Added Features:
- A campaign map has been introduced as a visual guide to the progress of the campaign. The outcomes of the battles will not only affect later battles but also the territory your side holds.
- Any player that possess an officer character will have a say in which territories are attacked. If multiple officers are possessed the player must pick one and only one to be their avatar for mission planning. The officer you use for mission planning does not have to be the character you use for combat though they must be on the same side.
- Who attacks and who defends will be decided with a relatively simple system. One side will start with momentum (in this case the Axis) and attack a territory of their choosing. Should they win, they take the territory and retain their momentum and choose the next territory to dispute. Should they lose, they lose their momentum and a battle is fought without a territory target. The winner of this battle gains momentum and picks the next territory to attack.
- Since this is a new thing for IO the rules are subject to change at any time as this idea is developed.
