Title says it all, really. In your opinion, who was (or is) your nation's greatest military commander/figure? I know a lot of you peeples are big on military history, so thought this would be a good question to ask.

I choose Master Corporal Rob Furlong to represent Canada. The answer can be found in my own Rogue Marksman Test. ;D
The longest recorded range for a sniper kill is 2340 meters. This was achieved , in March 2002, by Master Corporal Rob Furlong, of Newfoundland, Canada (represent!). This beat the previous record of 2286 meters set by an American, Carlos Hathcock, in 1967.
Canada pwns America here too!

Actually Owen, Furlong was beat less than a week later, I know the shot you were talking about, but five days later he was beat by around 70 meters, but he was beat by another Canadian sniper, so you still hold the record

Really?
*goes to research*
Nope, Jt, I am correct. You got mixed up. Master Corporal Arron Perry held the record for the brief time you spoke of before being beaten out by Master Corporal Rob Furlong. Arron was given credit briefly for having the furthest shot during a trial over his defecation of corpses. These rumors were put to rest by Maclean's Magazine (Major Canadian News Magazine) in 2006 which stated that Rob had the record for the furthest shot while Arron had one that fell 120 meters from Rob's shot.
So, what I said before...
Well I knew something like that had happened, I never really researched it, or got names, I just new that the record was borken twice in a week by Canadian snipers

Well, I had to choose one (greatest) military figure and that would still be Mannerheim for me. I'm very interested in Simo Häyhä and think he is one of the coolest military figures out there, but if asked, most people in Finland wouldn't even know who he is.
