Saving Hauptmann Merhoff Plot

Alright, so I know we had this discussion earlier in the cbox a few days back, but I wanted to make a proper thread for this. I know a few of you wanted to participate in an thread with ole' Merhoff and we decided upon the plot of a bit of a rescue attempt to glorify Merhoff's "release" a little bit. Hehe. So this is the thread to fix up the plot some, before I just go out and make a thread for this.

First off, I think we've reached a conclusion on the ones to participate in the first thread? Steinbeck, Heiko, and Dieter correct? I understand PuNk might be busy, so if he wishes to drop out I am fine with it. Anyways, on to the idea. So I was thinking something along the lines of Steinbeck leading a raid on a prisoner transport convoy or the like and busting Merhoff out. Or maybe even attacking a prison camp if it's really wanted. What would you all like to do?

Also, for those of you who can't be crowded into the initial thread, how would you like to do follow up threads? With Merhoff or members who took part in the raid, etc. I wish to keep this exclusively 21st Panzer in hopes of breathing some life into my division now that I am out of jail and would like to see some of my members pocketing some CP to go towards the division or themselves as they see fit.

So, for planning out the raid and following threads, do it here or PMs.

Wut, I had missed this post completely for some reason. Anyways, to me the idea of attacking a prisoner transport convoy sounds like a good idea. Attacking a prisoner camp would be much more trickier, since then we would have to have a way of transporting all the prisoners away before we are counter-attacked and that requires quite a lot of effort.

If the initial thread seems too crowded, I can give my spot to someone else if needed. Not that I wouldn't like to be involved in the first thread, but I'm a pretty patient person and not in a hurry. The only problem for me not being involved in the initial thread would be that it might be more difficult for my character to have much to do in the follow-up threads. Lousy corporals like me don't have much to say to a Hauptmann. :/

Currently I don't really have any ideas regarding the follow-up threads. Unless they be involving a party with lots of grog and many comely wenches, yarr me mateys!

I think we might be able to work with four people, however we would probably have to go by a 4 day posting limit so it doesn't take forever. I guess we could always let that slip and have someone post after the limit too though. I think Heiko definitely still wants in, but Werner said he's busy and would rather not. PuNk said he isn't really sure about being in the thread, so Steinbeck may not make it in after all.

Not a lot of foreign cities to trash left actually.

Right.

So Merhoff is captured in Belgium in 1944, freed in France or Belgium in 44 or 45, and then randomly travels down to Africa and parties.

Anyways, does anyone have any serious ideas for this?

Well, I guess you would know best what Merhoff would do after being busted out of jail, so I can't really come up with any good ideas. I'm all for a wild Afrika Korps -party, though.

The only thing that pops into my mind when it comes to making the storyline a bit longer would be that something goes wrong with the raid to free Merhoff and the rescue party has to find their way out behind enemy lines or something like that.

Of course, this idea seemed better when I was still thinking that Merhoff would be rescued somewhere in Africa. I wasn't here around the time of the epic battle, so I wasn't aware that it happened in Belgium.

Other than that idea, my brain is pretty empty.

I honestly think it would be awesome if it was a German task force being sent deep into allied territory and busting Merhoff out.

If you ever needed the Allied commander of the prisoner convoy, I'd be open.

Just offering myself up, highly doubt you would want me in it do to the focus on the 21st. Anyway, this plot sounds awesome and I shall defiantly read it.

Well, the first thread will be crowded enough so an allied person for the convoy would be no no. Not sure why you would offer yourself up to get all your men pwned? Lol.

Africa or GTFO, eh? Maybe we kill a huge amount of consistency, say Merhoff was transferred to Africa to give up details, is busted out, and theres still a fight in Africa? I don't know.
