Introductory Posts (Neutral/Hostile): Neutral Location (Board and Sub-Board): Occupied France Time of Day (24 Hour Clock): 1000hrs - June 13, 1944 Current Weather Conditions: Warm, overcast Map: Units Allied Normal Units (Private and Corporal NPC’s): Special Units (All other NPC’s): Light Vehicles: Armoured Vehicles: Planes: None Axis Normal Units (Private and Corporal NPC’s): Special Units (All other NPC’s): Light Vehicles: Armoured Vehicles: Planes: None Estimated Difficulty (Beginner, Normal, Veteran, Expert): Normal Notes: With the town of Carentan secured by US forces, pockets of German infantry have been ordered to counter-attack to prevent American armor and infantry reinforcements from the beach reaching further inland. As long as the Allies hold Carentan, they hold their foot in the door on Normandy. The goal of the Axis forces in this battle are to break the defensive line surrounding Carentan, in a prelude to driving back into the town itself. The Allies must hold the line until reinforcements from Utah Beach can arrive to sustain the perimeter. German forces have assembled at the top of the map behind hedgerows, Americans behind the tree line at the bottom. Brown spots are ditches and other depressions in the ground for cover, green dots are trees and green bulks are hedgerows. Light green is high ground.
Just a pro tip, if you go with that map then your battle of going to be over before the thread even starts. There just isn't enough cover for it to develop anything past trading volleys of fire at each other.
I would recommend adding some obstacles in the middle of the map or using a map from the map archive sticky at the tip of this board.

There's depressions in the middle of the map that are adequate for cover and concealment for the advancing German forces. The goal is to move fast and overwhelm the Americans.
I'd say that after 10 rounds if the Germans haven't forced all Americans out, the Allied armor reaches Carentan and they win. Evans and his tank can arrive in at say turn 8 to begin this process?
This battle would make a great Defenders and Attackers, if you're interested, Doc. The mod would supply the weapons and units, and any player fatalities or captures would not continue after the battle.
But if you'd rather have it as a normal battle, I'd be interested in nodding that as well.
I have a handful of troops along with an armored car and a panzer III. I'm itching to see an active battle so I might a well join one. Dunno who wants to mod, though.
Edit: We could begin trials of the arbiter idea and let any active member "mod" it, so long as we both consent to allowing that individual to do so.
The basic rifles are free so personal weapons are not really an issue. It'll be a no frills battle with us doing battle with the units we already have.
