Character Name: Suoh Yukimura or Yukimura Suoh
Nationality: Japanese
History:
Family
Toshiro Yukimura: Father
Kosuzu Yukimura: Mother
Shouta Yukimura: Sibling (deceased)
Daughter of an esteemed Doctor and Kendo practitioner in Japan---Suoh was born in the city of Kyoto on April 14th, 1922----On that spring day in a nearby hospital in Kyoto; the Yukimura family's first born child was born a healthy baby girl. In Kyoto, the summers are hot and humid, and winters are relatively cold with occasional snowfall....but to Suoh, it's home.
Physically Suoh takes most of her looks from her mother---Suoh has almond shaped deep brown eyes, and a pale complexion. Her raven colored hair falls about shoulder length, sometimes pulled into a pony tail that is draped against her shoulder. She comes in about 5'2 in height, she isn't very shapely like most girls---though what she lacks in curves she gains in another---she has this plain or natural Asian or oriental beauty to her, which makes her rather appealing to the eyes.
As far as family goes, A few years after Suoh's birth---around the age of 10 the family was graced with another child, this time a boy. Shouta was a rather weak infant and Suoh's baby brother. Even though he was with them for a few years...those moments spent with her sibling were precious. Due to some defect or illness, Shouta ended up passing away at the tender age of 5---the death of her baby brother had a strong impact on her Mother---Kosuzu.
The experience sent her mother into a cold-comatose state---where she can barely look at Suoh or even speak to anyone for that matter. Although her relationship with her mother is to an almost nonexistent, her relationship with her Father---Toshiro and her Uncle on her mother's side is rather strong.
Stoop in deep Japanese traditions Suoh's lived a very privileged life style...but limited. She never did particularly like the restrictions that were set on her just because she is a woman. The feeling of being confined to what you're expected to do or be made her restless---but one thing that they couldn't take away from her was her child-like curiosity, intellect and her seemingly nonexistent rebellious nature.
Suoh, although she strives to be a doctor in the future like her father----she has a knack for photography. She carries her small camera wherever she goes taking pictures of everything. Whether it be of soldiers, regular people, nature or propaganda practically just anything that catches her interest.
Besides photography Suoh does practice the art of Aiki-jujutsu and Kendo. Aiki-jujutsu which is the base or foundation of the modern art Aikido(which wasn't invented till after WW2)---specializes in joint locking, disarming and neutralization of one's attacker without hurting them and Kendo which literally means way of the sword.
Although she may not look like it---Suoh is very much experienced to handle her own in a fight. She began her kendo lessons at a young age with her father as her mentor. She uses kendo more so as an outlet to let out her restless nature as well to clear her mind and keep her focused on tasks. She takes great pride in her skills seeing that she learned everything from her Father.
Coming from a samurai decent on her father's side Suoh applies the code of Bushido...or the way of the warrior into her marital art practices. By the time she reached High school she already began to branch out and practice Aiki-jujutsu.
Besides being skilled in martial arts, Suoh has some understandings of basic medical skills because of her Father, such as: dressing or patching a wound, and stopping someone from bleeding. Other from that her knowledge of anything else in the medical field is limited. She also took it upon herself to learn a different language. Seeing that Germany had made a pact with Japan---she made it relevant to learn a little German (She's still learning so she isn't fluent) or at least enough to hold a simple conversation.
Suoh tends to set high standards for herself to the point it can stress herself out. She becomes easily flustered when showing her true emotions on top of that she strongly dislikes the feeling of being vulnerable or useless in any shape or form. Her usual go to line is "I can do this on my own!" or "I don't need your help!" she's too stubborn and vocal to be a burden to anyone. She hates expressing herself on an emotional level in general...she will keep denying everything till she gets her way or gives up.
Although she aspires to travel the world one day---she would have never expected it to be so soon. Around 1941, her Uncle on her mother's side----the Japanese Foreign minister offered her a chance of a life time----to accompany him to Germany. By that time Suoh was about 19 and she was more than eager to leave Japan and see the world.

A flash went off the camera Suoh held delicately in her hands as she hovered over a flower. She hunched over trying to get a better angle of it---trying to capture a brief moment of beauty into one picture. A small smile crossed her lips for a moment as she pulled away from it---gaping a little at the flower as she place her camera away in her bag. Straightening up she fixed her dark blue Garkuran uniform---she wondered if she was making the right choice to go with her uncle to Germany. She thought about the fact she would be leaving both her Mother and Father behind for a few months and Germany was quite a ways from Japan.
It was hard to think that her mother would miss her. She has barely spoken to her for the past five years since the passing of her brother Shouta. She exhaled a breath listening to the cicadas hum their never ending tune to the coming of spring. My birthday is next month...I wonder if I'll be spending it in Germany? she thought. Stretching her arms towards the sky she began to walk into town, "Mmm~ I should buy a new dress for this occasion." she said happily.
Occasionally she would pull out her camera and snap a picture of a Maiko or a Geisha fluttering by in their silken kimonos like a pair of wings before disappearing into a tea house. Suoh smiled to herself and began taking pictures of a few people and soldiers standing near some propaganda posters. Lowering her camera after a while she figured she won't have enough film for her trip to Germany if she kept this up. She laughed a little walking towards the nearest shop to buy a new outfit for her trip.
Before she could make it into the shop a soldier swiped her camera from her grasp. Suoh jerked her head towards him at first with a surprised expression on her face before contorting it into something short of a glare, "Hay!" she interjected as the soldier dangled her camera like bait to a fish, "Ho? Whats a cute little thing like you doing out by yourself?" he asked amused by the fact she is desperately trying to get her camera.
Suoh's cheeks flushed a shade of red in irritation as two other soldiers come by to join their comrade, "I'm in a hurry at the moment. Please give back my camera." she mumbled.
"Wah! Diesuke you made her blush!" teased a soldier.
"Hay I think she looks cuter with red cheeks." another one teased.
Suoh grumbled an irritated sound before speaking, "What will it take for you to give my camera back." she said a bit more firmly---as more of a demand than a question. She immediately took a step forward but, was stopped when one of the soldiers stuck out his hand in front of her.
The three soldiers stopped and looked at her for a moment before laughing. One quickly walked over and took a hold of her arm, "What do you guys think? Should we have a bit of fun with her before we give her, her precious camera back?" said one.
"Hmmm....well she does have a pretty face." said one with a lustful smile on his face.
Suoh's eyes widened as they began to pull her into the nearest alley way. She Struggled a bit trying to wriggle out of their iron grip, "I swear to not hurt any of you if you calmly give my camera back." she protested as the soldier practically tossed her into a corner of the alley.
"Hurt us?" mused one of the soldiers, "What's a little girl like you going to do? Scream?"
Suoh glanced around her---she was definitely cornered...they weren't going to let her go that easily, "Tch..." she grunted as her free hand inched towards some wood that was the same consistency of a bokken or wooden sword, "I'll fight you..." she said simply---her fingers lacing around the piece of wood firmly.
The soldiers burst into a fit of laughter.
"Those are mighty strong words coming from a woman." said one as he approached her.
"Then I suppose I'm not like other women." she growled
Within seconds the piece of wood made contact with the stomach of the soldier that was holding her. He coughed a bit holding on to his torso as he fell to the ground. Clutching the piece of wood like a Katana she charged at the nearest soldier and knocked him out as well. The one that held her camera fumbled for his gun---before he could use it as a threat, Suoh took the opportunity to knock it out of his hand. She stood there for a moment glaring at the one who held her camera.
"W-what the hell! Who are you!" he asked backing up as she inched closer, "S-stay away from me!!"
Suoh swung the piece of wood----making it land inches away from the soldier's nose, "And they're sending a cowardly boy like you into battle? Pathetic." said Suoh as she kept the piece of wood pointed at the boy, "Remember this. I am Yukimura Suoh. Daughter of Yukimura Toshiro---kendo practitioner! Niece of Japan's Foreign Minister! Next time you feel like messing with me I'll make sure you lose more than just your honor." she muttered darkly, "My camera if you please...." she said extending her hand.
The soldier complied and quickly handed her the camera before scrambling away.
Suoh watched in silence as the boy disappeared. Tossing the piece of wood away she headed back to the dress shop.
