So, a while back I wrote out Hieko's whole story arc and now I guess I could actually play it out. Any of the these points could be it's own thread or series of threads. Rough outline.
France
~May-June 1940
- Invasion of France and the Low Countries
~July 1940 - June 1941, Paris
- Transfer to the Paris Garrison
- Assigned to tracking resistance groups
- Run-in (accidental or not) with a known resistance member Heiko has been tracking
-- Maybe stumbling into an attack by said group and being mistaken as being sympathetic or a part of it. (Heiko has a thing about stabbing people, might take opportunity to get stab happy with someone he doesn't like and one of the resistance sees)
- Infiltration of the resistance group
- Heiko befriends at least one member and is drawn deeper into the group
- Heiko drops out of contact with his German handlers
- Incident: Heiko is drawn into the planning and execution of a rather big attack on an SS garrison/transport/etc. In the process Heiko kills a number of SS soldiers, but leaves (intentionally or not, dunno) some evidence of who did it.
- The SS track down Heiko's cell and capture Heiko, maybe some of the others.
- An interrogation by the SS. Heiko admits to helping but tries to claim he was trying to pass along information but wasn't able.
- Without any hard proof, Heiko is sent off the East in preparation for Barbarossa, assigned to a penal unit.
Soviet Union
~July-August 1941
- Preparation and execution of Barbarossa
- Ambush incident where most of Heiko's unit is wiped out
- Escaping back to friendly lines, evading pursuit
-Though acknowledged for the skill it took to survive, his past crimes in France are not forgotten, is transfered to North Africa in the hopes that he won't come back.
North Africa
~ October 1942 - March 1943
- Transfered to Morocco to support French forces in the face of an Allied invasion.
- Wounded and taken prisoner
- Manages to escape yet again, after his prisoner convoy is attacked by Axis air forces
- Races Allied forces back to Tunisia, evading capture for weeks, stumbling through the chaos of the Allied advance.
- Eventually found by friendly forces and participates in a limited fashion in some of the last battles of the defense of Tunisia
- Evacuated to Sicily, participates in the defense, wounded yet again in the early stages of Operation Husky. Sent back to Germany to recover
Germany
~ 1943 - 1944
Some homegrown resistance stuff, I'll get to that later.
