We've been experiencing a huge lack of activity lately and I've been banging my head against walls trying to figure out methods in which to keep everyone active and entertained here; I'm failing to come up trumps!
A few ideas I have in mind would be:
Community Events A selection of pre-planned events hosted on I.O that are either I.O orientated or otherwise. Such as; I.O one day battle events - a quick fast paced battle event that doesn't require an awful lot of writing and is completed within the day or external I.O events that consist of playing online games or otherwise.
Any ideas within this event hosting from yourselves and what you guys would like to participate in, would be awesome.
Sales & Discount Days This has been something I've been pondering over for a while now, perhaps when certain battles are won (like an important campaign battle or Defenders & Attackers battle for instance), a pre-planned discount or sale day for the winning nation; Commonwealth, Americans, Germans, Italians, etc... Have particular items or vehicles reduced for a single day.
Any ideas on behalf of you guys on what you would suggest would make this place more active and entertaining, would be brilliant and hopefully as a community we can pull something together to keep everyone glued for longer. ~Danny
Shhhh Macster! You're letting the cat out of the bag on our next upcoming update! Lol, also what do you mean about my nuclear idea plot? :S I honestly can't remember...

Truth be told, PuNk!, I think it's what you and I have been on-and-off chatting over on STEAM; we may just have to wait it out.
The issue is that, as far as online activity goes, people are busy during the Summer, and the beginning of the school year. By late September I can almost guarantee we'll have much of the community back in the saddle up until June again (excusing Saint Patty's day and New Year's for you British boys).
But if we want to get people back and active, we could perform a secret-squirrel maneuver. And by that, I mean, in addition a/some community event(s) we could look up member e-mails on their profiles, and send out a mass e-mail asking whoever will come back to do so.
Although I can see how you may find this overly intrusive. But I see little other option to spur at least communication or acknowledgement from the rest of the community.
Likewise, I haven't heard anything from SeeJay in a while, and he hasn't responded to my posts. I think Heiko also began school/work recently, so that's another thing to consider. And we all know JT is busy being a manly-man.
As for the rest of our members (non-staff), I am beginning to think that if we don't reach out they are gone for good to a certain extent. Heidi is certainly one of them that I can think of off the top of my head; an unfortunate loss, as she is quite good. Before I go on though, you get the point I am trying to make I think.
As usual, I am free to give you whatever help you need.
Oh yes, I remember now Mac! Sorry, I think around the time I suggested that "community plot" a lot of things started happening my end and it sort of got put on the back-burner, so to speak. We could certainly pick that plotage back up again when we get a few more active people on board, because I reckon right now, anything too deep and meaningful on I.O within the realms of a grand scale, will just fall flat on it's face.
I promise though Mac, we shall revisit that plot soon and Gus will get his moment in the limelight.
Also Tristan, yeah, understandably people have their lives to lead and I.O isn't one of those easy applications on your phone where you can just pop on and type up a quick post, this site is built around the need for a computer to sit at for at least a good hour per' session if you're in need of making a post for a thread. So it's a pretty demanding game we have here, although our limit is only fifteenth lines required, people understandably go above and beyond, because our immediate community is from an Intermediate to Advanced English literature level.
I've even see people come onto I.O with somewhat poor English literature and then come on leaps and bounds with their English literature over a matter of weeks and end up writing like pros. In no way is Issuing Orders a simple thing you can just pop on and spend five minutes checking up, I get that.
I've personally been trying my hardest to think of things we could introduce to inject a fuel of excitement (one being our upcoming update, yes) and alternative things we could sprawl onto the site, such as community events, giving everyone a reason to actually come onto I.O for a time.
Hmm... It's just difficult thinking of the right things to host, that aren't going to be time-consuming and boring after a little while. Not everyone feels like typing up long winded posts and if there's a whole community online at once, having a community RP will be absurd, it would have to be something more simple and sweet, for a time at least. ~Danny
