What item do you think is THE MOST useful and why? They're all pretty useful items, I guess, but one of them stands out more than all the rest. What item would you rather have with you on a deserted island and why?
There's no real winner for this quiz, just wanted to see who thinks a little more strategically, tactically perhaps on a survival basis. ;D The 'winners' get a cookie.
Vote and discuss! ~Danny

Box of matches....OwO I can make a giant bonfire to signal passing planes or ships? Annndddd throw in some rum into the bonfire to make it bigger (lol pirates of the Caribbean reference xD)...if there is rum on the island xD...which I doubt. XDD
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
Before I vote I will need more info. Like, how big is the island in question? What is the terrain? What is on it? etc. Yes, I must ask.
There's always one! The island is... An island. Big enough to inhabit wild animals, forestry and plenty of sand and dirt. It's not a trick quiz or anything.

Leather Belt.
It takes a lot for it to break or wear down. It can be used as a tool, weapon, and aid in the production of fire through basic mechanics (i.e. wrapping the belt around a wooden stick, and using the leather's texture to produce traction and spin it against another piece of wood). It can be used to bundle objects, secure things, and hold up your damned pants.
Matches run out and can get wet, rendering them useless.
A mirror can only produce a fire in sunlight, and I can't see all of my beautiful ass with a compact mirror.
Rope deteriorates faster, is harder to secure, and can catch fire if you handle it improperly.
Cigarettes require fire, and essentially dissolve when wet.
Fishing line has a high tendency to break, can be lost very easily, and does not generally come with a hook.
I can produce a crossbow out of found materials, and it is unspecified as to whether or not I have ammunition. Also, if anything I kill is not cooked, there is a high likelihood I can contract food poisoning or something else that will cause me to shite out my own colon.
A pen would only serve purpose if it was sharp, or had that spring-loaded top so I could launch it up and down off of rocks or something. That, and it's good for next to nothing else...except maybe drawing eyes and mustaches on everything.
Some good survival and tactical thinking going on here. Keep 'em coming. Nobody is "incorrect" during this quiz, as such, they're all very useful items for different purposes, but technically one of them provides a lot more use than the others. ~Danny

I want a crossbow, good for hunting bigger animals an is quite stealthy. Plus if you see a ship passing you can signal it by lighting the arrow (or bolt) on fire and using it as a flare...
Only the insane have strength enough to prosper; only those that prosper truly judge what is sane.
Well this has had some really insightful opinions on the objects above within the poll and you're all correct, each item has it's very own useful agenda, but the one item out of all of them that has the most potential is... The ladies' compact mirror!
Whyyyy? Well a few of you have touched upon it's uses already, but just to clarify:
Signaling, yes the mirror can be used in conjunction with sunlight to signal to aircrafts above or even land-lovers afar!
Fire, assuming it's a very sunny day (and being stuck on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere, it probably will be) you can use the mirror to create fires; much like a magnifying glass on dry leaves/wood.
Possible weapon, yes you could even shatter the mirror into sharp pieces of shards and use it to fend for yourself. Whether you tied it to a piece of wood to create a spiked bat or used your imagination in alternate ways, no matter what, you'll have a jagged shard to protect yourself with.
Tools, bouncing off the weaponry idea above, a sharp piece of shard makes a good cutting tool as well. Whether you need it to prepare food, cut-down objects or even use it as a tool to create more weapons, such as spears (sharpening the wooden ends) it proves useful as a universal cutting tool.
Extended sight, it may seem odd, but you could also use the mirror to see in places you couldn't see previously. Such as venturing into a dangerous cavern on the island, you could use the mirror to preemptively see around corners or even attach it to a long stick and scout out areas that may be too high to reach. Think, they used this simple method during the second world war and it's still used today in many shops, I'm sure you've seen the dome mirrors in the corner of the store.
There's probably endless possibilities you could use this mirror for, including setting up traps by sprinkling shards of glass on the floor or adapting the larger shards to act as spikes sticking out of the ground and many other imaginative ideas...
Congrats to those who got it correct! Nobody is entirely wrong. ~Danny
