As the title says, I'm thinking of quiting my band... Life is just catching up to me too much, and things are becoming more important to me than my band. Guitar will still always be my passion and my main hobby, but I just don't think I can devote the kind of time needed to be in a band. Plus, they are pretty serious, and I just don't think we could ever get signed or really do anything that will make all of our work worth it. Plus with me working in the middle of nowhere, I need to work on my education too and My girl is more important than anything and sometimes that gets in the way of the band... Actually most of the time lately it's getting in the way. I just gota figure out a way to tell them but keep the friendships intact.

I'm really sorry to hear that dude, but like you said, you've got commitments now and more important things in your life to concentrate on and focus towards. It sounds like your band is a slow moving ship, infact it's probably going nowhere fast like you said and I think you're both mature and grown up to notice the more important things in your life than the band right now.
I think you're probably making a good judgement call, if you didn't have much else in your life worth concentrating on, then I would have said try sticking with your band, but realistically you've got more important things to do and they should be your priorities.
If not... Then try reasoning with your band and suggest meeting up for practice less often or book gigs to play more in advance so you can get yourself sorted in advance and it's not a last minute thing. If they're not willing to accommodate you or cut you some slack at the moment, then they'll leave you no choice but to leave and technically it's not your fault. So you'll have nothing to worry about, it's not like you haven't tried reasoning with them.

From the conversations we've had the past few months, SeeJay, it probably is the best course of action. Whenever you have told me about the band, you talk about it as though it's something you want to have fun with. If you want to have fun, and they want to try and get signed, then you lot are already going to diverge.
Just to be sure though, mate, make sure you're doing it for you, and nobody else. Don't do it because someone told you it would be a good idea, or because you were pressured. You got a solid head on your shoulders, so I don't imagine it will cause you a ton of trouble at the end of the day.
Either way, you know we're all gonna' back your decision one way or the other.

No SeeJay band?!
Hey man, you know your situation better than anyone else, but one of the few things I've been able to not only learn but retain in life, if you've already started having these thoughts and they have progressed to the point you are talking to others about them, it's already time to cut the ties, all your mind is doing is holding on to the good memories, bbut you will always have those.
Also if my advice ends up being the worst and your band gets signed a year after you leave, I'll buy you a plane ticket to come punch me in the face and I'll still pay for the first round

Haha, Rock on guys, cheers. I think you all are right. I'm not goin to quit playing but yeah... And if they do get signed after I leave I try and go back. I'll buy their album and go to their show and stand in the crowd.

No problem dude, always here to help if I'm able too. At the end of the day, it's your own choice and decision with where you want to be and what you truly wish to do. Let me know how things go! ~Danny
