UK/US or AXIS: The Axis, as a German Nurse
Character History:
Liesl grew up on a small farm, in a normal Austrian family who lived in Carinthia , Austria . As a child, she always was sick on a number of occasions through out her childhood because she had a weak immune system. Being the only child, she was always (at the most) kept in doors, her parents feared if she were to push herself, her immune system will simply deteriorate. As she grew older she became stronger, as did her immune system. She's always found running amongst the golden wheat fields, causing a bit of mischief and constantly escaping the ever watchful eyes of her parents.
At first glance she gives off a innocent, kind nature. Though, she rebellious and soft spoken, but in certain occasions she is very straight forward, and stubborn.
Being simple farmers, her parents didn’t have much money to offer when she started her education. So, everyday at school she would strive for the top of her class in order to not let her parent’s efforts be put to waste and as well as taking on a few small side jobs just to help pay for things. Due to the depression that was spreading across Europe, it practically drained her family of money and causing them to lose almost all of their investments. Her father sold everything, including their farm and moved to Vienna Austria for a better life and work. At age 17 Liesl graduated and started to attend a school in Vienna to become a nurse. Seeing as she was raised in deep values such as; holding the importance of human life at a high regard, it seemed only natural to become a nurse.
When she turned 19, the Germans entered Austria (Anschluss); changing everything Liesl knew and loved about the “old Austria ”. Now, almost 20 she has completed all of her training to become a nurse and is now nursing under the Axis Powers.

Scenario: You’re alone behind enemy lines and you get the eerie feeling someone’s watching you. You’re trying to remain quiet, stay low, work your way back to the frontlines - but you can’t help but feel you’re being followed… (How does your character React? What’s running through their mind?)
Liesl stepped out into the cold night air, rubbing her calloused hands together bitterly. What has the world come to? she pondered quietly as she made a feeble attempt to rub off the dry blood from her hands. She sighed slightly watching her breath form a light wispy cloud. Raising her teal-blue eyes she watched it float into the starless sky. Lowering her eyes, she couldn’t help but think of the events that happened a few moments before she stepped outside into the cold. The strong sent of blood still lingered on her light-blue nurse uniform and her hands as she thought of the soldier she couldn’t save.
Losing herself in her thoughts, she remembered the wounded soldier. He was brought into the combat support hospital in a stretcher, barely breathing and clinging dearly to his life. The soldier croaked in what sounded like someone drowning in their own bodily fluids.
”Bring him here! Schnell” she said in a calm tone of voice leading the men that were carrying the wounded soldier into a makeshift surgery room.
Adrenaline and instincts quickly took over as Liesl peeled the damaged uniform off the soldier. Remembering everything she had learned to become a nurse, she effortlessly began to deduct how bad his conditions were on a scale from 0-3: 3 being about to die and 0 already dead.
She quickly scanned the extent of the soldier’s wounds, coming to the conclusion that he was about a 3. Clumsily she fumbled through her white apron pocket for the syringe of morphine. The fresh blood on her hands made it slippery and difficult to get a good grip on it. Once she had the syringe firmly in her hands, she flicked the syringe a few times until some of the clear liquid leek out of it and drove it into the soldier’s thigh.
”C’mon…stay with me.” she muttered as she began to apply pressure to his wound. She turned to the nearest nurse and told her to grab some bandages.
The soldier looked up at Liesl wearily as blood began spilling from his mouth. The soldier began to make unnatural gurgling sounds as Liesl desperately tried to stop his bleeding. Nein…nein nein!!!! she thought and pressed harder onto his wound to keep the soldier awake.
Within a few seconds the other nurse ran in with bandages, ”Danke.” said Liesl as she grabbed the bandages. ”Stay awake...stay awake.” she urged the wounded soldier before her. His eyes began to glaze over when Liesl urged him to stay awake. The color of his face began to drain from his pale Germanic features, his eyes then rolled back to where you can see the whites of it. He choked, croaking slightly one last time before drifting off into an unsettling silence.
Liesl stopped what she was doing, staring in utter silence at the corpse. She swallowed dryly, dropping the bandages in her hands. Biting her lower lip, she held back a few curses in German. She swallowed back a slight sob, feeling utterly useless that she couldn’t save this man.
Sighing she turned to the other nurse smiling bitterly, “Fraulein…Can you take care of the rest? I need some air.” she uttered quietly feeling a lump grow in her throat. Without giving the other nurse time to answer, Liesl bolted outside.
Liesl slowly came back to reality after reflecting on other past events. She had wondered away from the safety of the German frontlines and was obviously not aware of it. Calmly she sat down removing her white bandana from her dark chocolate hair and placing it on her lap. She inhaled slowly trying to relax before returning to the combat support hospital. A sudden shiver ran down her spine, she couldn’t help but get a very uneasy feeling that she was being watched. Her stomach dropped a little at the thought of it.
Quietly she rose to her feet, her heart pounded rapidly against her chest as she turned to head back to the German combat support hospital. Relax Liesl…. she thought to herself, though it didn’t do much good, the feeling that she was being watched was still there. Liesl swallowed hard, deep in the back of her mind something was screaming at her to run. Without any hesitation, she broke into a sprint. Liesl kept running until she made it back to the German combat support hospital. When she made it, she was out of breath. She stopped in the entrance of the hospital placing her hands on her knees as she tried to regain her normal breathing. A nurse walked by her noticing she was out of breath and asked what happened, ”Oh…ah…nothing!” she lied, ”Just went out for some air…” she paused flashing a nervous smile, ”Is there any patients that need attending to?”
The nurse shot her a weird look and directed her to a soldier. Liesl smiled in response, shaking off the uncomfortable feeling of being watched and tied her white bandana back into her hair.
