Oooo, this is a hard question. Western Front; 1940 (shouldn't it be 1939?) - 1944, is in my opinion, one hell of a massive chunk of the war forgotten by everyone. Mainly because it was British/French and other Allied forces fighting the war alone - Europe basically.
Whereas 1944 - 1945 were just all about the Americans in my honest opinion. Great job they did, but I feel the Germans already had a big chink in their armour from Europe fighting them for a previous five years. So when the Americans stormed in, it was pretty much kicking an enemy when they were down.
Hmmm.... The other options are all cool, only other one I like, is the African/Eqypt campaign against Rommel (The Fox). Ah, hard choice, I'm cut between 1939 - 1944 and the African Campaign.
I'll have to say... Western Front, 1939 - 1944, because a lot of good British soldiers were lost in France and I feel the whole WWII history doesn't talk about that era of the war enough. Particularly with London during the Blitz, being bombed day after day. We still fought on and put up a good fight and a lot of men stayed in France during the mass retreat of Dunkirk to cover them, until "The last fighting tommy".
So I'm highly respectful to that part of the war, because there was no bigger defeat for the Allies than Dunkirk and I'm more respectful for all the previous fighting Britain and many other European countries endured, before the Americans even considered entering the war battled between Europe.
