OOC: The intro RP is meant to show what has just happened, so people can act respectivley. The map below is the area we will be playing in.
With a crack like thunder, the centre of the C-47’s fuselage burst apart as flames ripped through it. Deadly metal fragments flew through the air as the transport snapped effortlessly in two. The front section plummeted downwards, but the airborne aboard were soon put out of their discomfort; the kerosene in the tanks detonated.
Captain Hyde swore as the rear section threatened to swing backwards and straight through the Horsa Glider’s glass cockpit. The long line fell back, below the point of which Hyde could see it. But thankfully it snapped. The glider pitched forward and began to turn sharply as it lost lift.
“The bird’s going to roll!” Co-Pilot Taylor shouted to his Captain desperately. They both battled with the limited controls, but it continued to fall. Hyde turned the controls sharply to try and stop the twisting. Everyone aboard was pushed into their seats as the aircraft swung violently as it turned, then began to shake as it pulled up.
More flack exploded below it as it closed on the ground. An 88mm shell threw out shrapnel twenty metres under the Horsa. The tip of the right wing was chopped off, and jagged steel shot through the floor, tearing through no less than four men, killing two outright.
Ahead were stretching fields, with scattered pockets of woodland littered across the countryside. It was on the outskirts of one of those forests that Hyde wanted to land, steering the glider through two trees to rip off the wings. At that second, a black cloud appeared in front of the cockpit. Everything seemed in slow motion. The glass shattered as fragments were sent hurling towards the plane. The Captain felt metal rip through his torso and legs, removing his right foot and disabling his control panel. He slowly turned in the direction of Taylor. He was greeted by a body which had a stump, instead of a head. Blood spurted up the artery through the decapitated corpse. To Hyde horror, it collapsed forward.
The control column was now locked forward and the glider went into the steepest dive the Captain had ever experienced. He pulled back, but his reduced strength was no match for the weight of the muscular male. The cold wind blew into his face as the glider picked up speed. Hyde looked out of the non-existent window. He reviewed the state of Taylor, then had to make a dreadful decision for everybody on board. He pushed the corpse out.
They were now just metres above the ground. Hyde saw two trees that would have to do if he didn’t want to crash land badly. But he wasn’t sure what condition the plane was in. The threshold was coming up way too fast to dither. With what strength he could muster, he pushed the nose down, but it was still too high. It pitched slightly to the right, and then hit the trees. The right wing came of clean but the left one remained.
The glider twisted over and fell from the sky. As its last wing tried to make a full rotation, it struck a ploughed field. The remaining tube shot off at a strange angle into the wooded area. The tail shattered as it smashed into a tree. The nose dipped, then tore a channel through the soft earth, before coming to a halt.
Of the twenty eight soldiers, and two crew, only five soldiers survived without mortal wounds.
