The moonlight made the cobblestone road glisten in the darkness of night. Lukas Schultz, who had recently been assigned to the 2nd SS Division by the German Red Cross, cautiously strode through the streets. He never quite felt so safe in this world anymore, especially since he had been assigned to the "WAFFEN SS- DAS REICH". It sent a chill down his spine every time he thought of it. He wore the regular issued uniform for an SS soldier, along with the Red Cross insignia on his helmet and on an armband on his right arm.
Slowly, he pushed open the door to the local tavern. He hadn't even cared to meet with his commanding officers yet. He feared them. He felt as if they were going to turn out to be horrible monsters. He found himself an empty table, and brushed some trash off it with his arm. Lukas leaned back in a strangely comfortable wooden chair, and held his hands before his face. They were pale, dirty, and gritty. At least they were not stained with blood.
That ruby liquid that was the essence of life stained his hands every time he stepped out on that battlefield. It was too much to bare. Lukas even admitted to himself that the reason he was trying to make out the SS into monsters, was because he didn't want to get to know them. Another face, another friend, would just in result more blood on his hands.
Lukas ran his hands back through his brownish-blond hair. He unbuttoned his SS uniform shirt, to reveal a white shirt with no sleeves beneath it. he slipped off the uniformed shirt and let it rest on his chair. A female bartender approached his table and uttered, "Kann ich Sie alles erhalten?" Lukas stared up into her eyes, which stunned him for a moment. A few seconds later he broke out of this state of shock and embarrassingly replied, "Alles alkoholisch."
A few moments later, the stunning bartender returned with his alcoholic beverage. Lukas attempted to mutter out something sweet, but he was too shy to say something, and so the the bartender wandered off. Lukas shuttered and brought his drink up to his lips. He rarely drank. But tonight Lukas chugged his drink down in seconds. He held out a refreshed sigh and leaned further back in his chair, hoping to drink away his sorrows.
TRANSLATIONS:
"Kann ich Sie alles erhalten?"
- Can I get you anything?
"Alles alkoholisch."
-Anything alcoholic.
