Cold

The wind was cold. The night was black. There were no clouds in the sky and Venus was clear. Bill walked up to the edge of the roof. He looked down.

The ground below was lit by faint lights from the hospital. He remembered how he had managed to get up to the building. He had told the nurse that he was going to visit a friend and had snuck on to the roof while she was not looking.

He had said his goodbye's and only his closest friends knew what he was about to do.

He knew that straight after he had done they would arrive. He hoped that they would not be able to fulfill their job requirements. That he would not stand ever again.

He looked east. He could see a faint figure running towards the building and guessed that it was probably someone coming over to tell him to stop.

He shuffled closer to the edge and looked down. Nothing had changed since he last looked. He was scared of what would happen after.

He stepped backwards and murmered a prayer asking God for forgiveness from all of his sins and that he could live in heaven and not be banished to eternal torture in hell.

After he had finished he moved back over to the edge and looked down to see the soldier who had been running enter the hospital. He knew he only had a minute or less before he got to him.

He began to cry. The tears streamed down his face. He sat down on the edge. Perched over the edge ready to give a gentle push.

He knew that a gentle push would end it all. He would slip into darkness and hopefully be accepted into the light and not into torment.

He was still weeping as a Private stepped on to the roof.

'Bill!!!' he shouted, 'Don't do it!!!'

Bill pushed off and fell. His life flashed before his eyes and he knew it was over. He was still weeping as he slipped into darkness.

As he hit the floor he rolled over and the last thing he saw was the Private reaching over the edge of the roof and weeping. The last he ever heard was the Private shouting at him and telling him not to.

OOC: I have killed Bill as I can't keep him active. If you wish to carry on with this thread (I don't see a reason unless you try to save me as I die) please do.

'Bill!!!' Tom had shouted, 'Don't do it!!!'. He ran toward Bill but it was to late Bill had already jumped "help" Tom shouted. He sobbed as he saw Bill's remains "No!" Tom shouted it was agony seeing him.

Tom had only known the Sargent for a short time and in that time they had been friends brothers in arms this was a dark day "why Bill?" Tom said "why?". He had known that the Sargent had been gloomy the last couple of days but he never Imagen that he would kill himself.

He called David and Defrel over and said "go and pick up the remains..... just leave me alone" he could not believe it Bill was gone! Who would drink with him merrily and make him laugh. It just happened right in front of him but he could not believe. He called Bills name and waited for a reply he half expected for Bill to answer him merrily and say ' what you doing me old pal' this was a terrible day why Tom though why would god be so unkind he carried on mourning. He went down to the graveyard and dug a grave he cept the shovel and then gathered friends for the funeral

Edek had arrived at the hospital to visit a fellow pilot who had been shot down in a battle that they both took part in. He walked slowly down the dark corridors of the hospital. He was constantly shivering as it was an incredibly cold night and a huge draft blew in through a battered door. Edek thought to himself how much of a terrible place this was to spend your time wounded.

He then began to feel very depressed as he had been for the past few days and had been having serious trouble sleeping. He would often randomly hear the voices of dying comrades in his mind and begin to think he was reliving some of his previous battles. Then he would awaken from these fits feeling very gloomy.

It was then that his thoughts were interrupted as he heared some strange happening outside.

"Bill don't do it"he heared a Young voice shriek followed by a large thumping noise.

Edek ran full pelt out of the ruined double doors towards the sound. He came to a sudden stop as he noticed the corpse of a man from the Fusiliers at his feet. He could not believe it Bill must have jumped from the roof. Edek quickly crouched down and felt the man's pulse he was dead.

Edek then noticed the group of soldiers surrounding him crying loudly. Edek felt bad that he was the only one who was not weeping. He supposed it was because he had not known him well.

Two sad looking Privates began to move the remains of the body.

"What the hell do you think your doing put them down" shouted Edek furiously staing at the Privates disgustedly though he knew they were only following orders for a more foolish other.
