OOC - I know the thread that takes place before this is still in its early stages...but a lot of people were saying there wasn't a lot of life the past couple of days. So, I'm trying to GIVE life.

Country: France - Northern France, to be exact. Allied-held territory.
Area/Setting: Vast fields, marred with tank tracks and vehicle tracks from movement from Allied and Axis forces. There are even a few craters from artillery either misfired or fired as a precaution, and a few snapped trees and run-over foliage. Simple wooden fences surround the fields, a few crushed from being run over by tanks.
Current Time: 14:50
Weather Conditions: A sunny day, with warm enough temperatures to wear a light sweatshirt, or even a sleeveless shirt, if one is bold enough.

Ever since her little escapade into the soldier's hospital, Adelheid hadn't been allowed back onto the base, someone called a "CO" not wanting her there anymore. A lot of people had been very upset with her about disobeying them; Adelheid felt bad every time she thought about it. They had said that it wasn't safe, that Adelheid could have gotten hurt if she had gone into the wrong area. Despite her attempts to apologize, it seemed as if no one wanted to forgive her, and one of the German-speaking nurses had given Adelheid to a couple of relatives to look after.
Adelheid didn't like them very much. They were loud and bossy, and they kept scolding her, talking very sternly in a nasally-sounding language after they had finished berating her. For some reason, Adelheid kept thinking they were talking about her, and for the past few days, she had been feeling worse and worse then she already was.
It only made sense, then, that when Fräu Pierpont - the old housewife who snapped at Adelheid the most, even for the smallest of things - had gone into town for a few hours, Adelheid had snuck out. Herr Pierpont had been taking his daily nap, and was completely oblivious to the flight of his young charge. Adelheid would never have been such a bad girl back at the orphanage...but she was unhappy. She wanted Onkel Stephen to come back, with his kind words and giving nature. He had gone somewhere, however, some saying he was now in a country far across the sea, and Adelheid had not been told when he would be back.
The fields were empty now, quiet and serene, ridden with trails from the house-things that rumbled and roared like thunder. Although the house-things had been there weeks before, they were gone now. The not-Nazis had made them go away, that was what one of the nurses had said. Adelheid wished she could be back with them; they had been nice ladies, very nice indeed. This fact only added to the guilt that the young girl felt at having given them trouble.
"Möglicherweise sollte ich weg von hier gehen, Silber," said the little child to her grey horse plush. Onkel Mac had bought it for her a few days ago, when he had gone into town, just to make sure Adelheid had something to play with. "Denken du, wenn ich über das Meer ging, ich konnten Onkel Stephen finden? Ich verfehle ihn."
Despite little Adelheid's imagination giving the toy a life of its own, it only stared back at her with black beads for eyes. Adelheid stared back with black eyes of her own, but then sighed, and looked out into the half-torn fields. She suddenly thought of the Rhys man, her Vater, and how she had seen his angel when Onkel Mac had left for town. Since then, Rhys had not appeared to her...if she really had seen him.
...Vater, thought the girl, würden Sie mit mir gespielt haben?

Translations:
Maybe I should go away from here, Silver.
Do you think if I went across the sea, I could find Uncle Stephen? I miss him.
Vater = Father
Father, would you have played with me?
