On the Hunt

Slowly Tadeusz crept through the woods.Holding his rifle up to his shoulder he walked silently with out a sound.Looking every time he hears a sound and tightining his grip on his rifle.After spending so much time in the barracks and at camp it felt nice getting away from the world.He's been tracking a large hare for about 10 minutes.Then a rustle in the grounded leaves he turns to his left.He sees the hare.It was nibling on some grass away from him.He took aim with his gun and sqeeze the trigger.After the fire he steped up to the body of the unlucky hare.It was larger then he remeber hares to be.Picking of the body by the ears he estimated about 6 to 9 pounds.A fine meal,of course he will share with the soldiers in his squad.He pulled out a small sack a put the hare in it.''I should cook it early,maybe boil it''thought Tad.The idea made his mouth water.The food they've been fed recently hasn't been all that great.Some stale bread,meat hopefully cow ,but probaly horse,and a small side of cooked oak grains or some vegetables.Tad started to made his way back to camp about half a kilometer.As He was nearing the camp a rusleling came from a bush.He quickly turned and shouted''Wer ist da''.Thinking it might be a bear he backed from the bush.Then remebering that a resistance fighter camp was found in the woods he quickily repeated.He sliped the saftey off and layed his finger on the trigger.He backed away and shouted''etwas sagen, oder ich schieße''.

Edzrd enjoyed being out of the barracks, away from all the hussle of a couped up soldiers life. Outside, where it was quiet and peaceful, usually, is where he preferred. He had been working on stalking, his accuracy was about as good as it was going to get, but he wanted to make sure he could give himself the best opportunity for the shot if he needed it. He statred off the morning creeping along after small game and eventually moved on to a deer, but that didn't last too long as it picked up the smell of something else it seemed, something it didn't want to be around, within a few minutes Crimm found out just what that something was, a German soldier. So Crimm decided that was his new practise subject, nothing better than stalking a human.

The man seemed to have a knack for such things, he kept himself low and rather well concealed given he didn't have the kind of equipment the experienced sniper did. Before they made it back to base he decided he might as well walk with the man, he had his fill of the stealth life for the day. As he began to stand the man turned toward him, rifle raised as he slowly backed away. Edzard stood fully and pulled the hood of his ghillie suit from his scalp and looked toward the soldier. "Halten Sie Ihr Feuer, bedeuten ich Ihnen keinen Schaden." he said calmly, giving the soldier a moment to lower his weapon before Crimm stepped out of the underbrush toward him. "Ich bin Scharführer Crimm vom Waffen SS, nur erhält aus in ein bisschen Ausbildung, und wer dürften Sie sein?" He asked as he neared the man with his prize from the hunt. Edzard looked it over and nodded in a congratulatory way.

His stress faded away seeing that it was a soldier,but then studing what the men just said his stress started to comeback.A SS soldier.Tadeusz heard rumors and stories that the SS could get away anything.He rember one wich still shakes him about an SS officer killing a family just because they didn't give let him have thier daughter for a night.It was just stories through.Then realizing that he hasn't answered Crimm yet.Tad in an unsteady voice answered''Ich bin Obergefreiter Sadowski und ich war auf der Jagd.The SS soldier looked at Tad's catch and nodded in approval.Tadeusz stared at the red stained sack.Tadeusz then said something so suprising that he didn't belive himself.He asked''Möchten Sie mit mir zu essen?''Tad waited for an answer.It seemed like an eternity before Crimm answered.When he answered he said''ja''.
They walked to the camp and after skinning the rabbit with his knife he then boiled the rabbit in his helmet.It was a fit meal and Tadeusz thought it was the best meal in weeks.''Through''Tad thought''Crimm probaly had a good meal every day.The SS was Hitler's favorite.It didn't matter now Tadeusz is not in any trouble with this soldier.He hope he can keep it up like this.

OOC: You're new so no biggie, but when you wrote that my guy responded, that's considered God-Modding, it's against the rules, no harm done though as this is a neutral thread, but try to refrain from such things in the future.

Crimm look on waiting for a response from the soldier, it came in time. He nodded, acknowledging the man. Then a rather forward offer and generous at that, no sooner did Crimm accept the motion of kindness did his stomach start to rumble, he had been out since he woke up having only a light breakfast, it had been hours since his last meal. The soldier seemed a bit weary of Edzard, it was to be expected as He did kind of sneak up on the guy and he was a SS soldier, they had a bad reputation, probably the worst. But Crimm hadn't chose such a post, but he was one of the top in his field, it was chosen for him, they couldn't have a Wermacht sniper looking better than some of the best the SS could muster up, so even though he wore the uniform, it wasn't his nature to bolster the image they had. In time Crimm hoped this soldier would learn such, he saw no point in telling him, he would have no reason to believe Crimm.

After the remainder of the nice walk back which surprisingly was rather quiet, they chose a spot to clean the small beast, cook it and eat it, maybe they had just been a bit out of it, that possibly could be the explanation for the lack of conversation, none the less they had eaten well now and Edzard figured he'd break the silence that had lived far too long. "Von wo kommen deshalb Sadowski, Sie? Ist hier lang gewesen?" he asked, unscrewing the lid from his canteen for a nice drink, the water wasn't very cold, but his mouth was still warm from the hot meal, so he welcomed the luke warm liquid as cold water would have definitely hurt his teeth.

It was near sunset and Tad was seeing the meal was mostly done.Pulling the meat off one of the hare's legs Tad stares at the SS.Thinking it would be smart Tadeusz stayed quit for the time they ate,but then the silence broke.Tad thought for a moment after Crimm asked the question.After sawlloling his meet he answered''Ich habe gerade zurück aus dem östlichen front.Es ist die Hölle dort''.There was a quier silence for the rest of that supper.Looking around at scenery around thier spot he notices Crimm's rifle laying to the SS soldier side.It was much nicer and cleaner then Tads.Tadeusz one was from dead soldier that was kind enough to spare his.Tad cleaned it about every other day and tried it everyday.Today he decided hunt with it.Luckily his prize was bigger than he thought or it would of made a bigger mess.He hopes that he could get a better rifle or those new machine pistols.That would help him alot against the soviets.Deciding to cease the silence he asked,''Wie lange sind Sie schon hier und wo waren Sie das letzte Kampf''.

Crimm watched as the man continued eating, Edzard was full but it seemed the Wermacht soldier hadn't eaten in quite some time, he smiled, it was good to see the rare moments when a life is satisfied. He noticed Sadowski eyeing his weapon, couldn't say he blamed the guy, was rare to see an FG-42, they were slowly produced and even slower on the distrobution, but he was glad he had one, made a world of difference over his last weapon, the same thing Tad had, a good rifle, just not for combat.

Crimm stood slowly so as to not startle the man, after all they had just met, picking up his rifle and slinging it over his shoulder he turned to look out on the horizon, the setting sun casting an orange hue over most of the land, the shadows claimned the rest of it. The shadows, was a beautiful place for a sniper. "Ach bin ich hier mit dem SS für fast zwei Jahre jetzt, ein roudy Bündel gewesen, aber sie nehmen gute Sorge von Ihnen." he said, not really knowing to the 'where' the man was refering to, he'd been in Germany his entire life other than the odd vacation here and there when he was younger, the rest had been business trips before he joined the military, but that was still a sore spot for Crimm and one he hadn't yet been able to speak of too often.

Crimm didn't see combat too often, which was both good and bad, he had a higher life expectancy from it, but his skills weren't completely perfected under stress yet. Then Crimm decided to ask about the eastern front, Sadowski had mentioned having come from that direction, Edzard had never been that way and usually wasn't one for rumors, but the stories were vast and usually centered around two things, the Soviets never ran out of men to throw at us, and they had snipers that must have come down from the heavens. "Sie haben gesagt, dass Sie zum östlichen vorderen Huh gewesen waren? Ich habe Geschichten großer sowjetischer Heckenschützen dadraußen gehört, nicht wahr wahr?" It almost made his mouth water.

Letzte Schlacht. ..hmmm...let's sieht hier, die Mehrheit von ihnen ist in Frankreich, das ist gewesen wo der letzt engagment ich war in hat stattgefunden sowieso. Es gibt ein gutes Bit der Handlung in Nordafrika ebenso, aber es gibt nur zu viel Hitze dort für meinen Mögen.
Last battle...hmmm...let's see here, the majority of them have been in France, that's where the last engagment I was in took place anyway. There is a good bit of action in north Africa as well, but there is just too much heat there for my liking.

Finishing the hare Tadeusz felt full and could go another week.Hearing the question memories flew back into his mind of what he endured on the eastern front.Having to be on guard duty of hours at night,always having a new recruit get his head blown off,and the cold erie nights.Luckily I got shipped there near the end of winter.He remembers seeing all those poor men who had ice growing on their faces and so many corpses.Being their only for 5 months he stilled wonder how he made it out.His company killed at least 100 men in one skirmish but that was because there was so many.He felt that he should answer Crimm's question.''Wenn Sie denken, groß wie in Metzger eine wehrlose Soldaten zu töten, ohne einen Gedanken''Tad replied.After some thinking Tad decided it was getting late.Staring torwards the sun he saw a flock of birds fly.He got up from the rock he used as a chair.He grabed his rifle.Its wait less then he remember,probably from the strength he received from his fine meal.He said to Crimm''es ist spät ich sollte gehen''.He waved good bye,picked up his helmet(It was still damp and smelt like cooked rabbit)and walk away.He hopes that he will cross Crimms path again.Hopefully still alive.
