It had been a seemingly boring day until the order came through that Edzard would be running a Personal Security Detail (PSD) for a newly transferred officer into the unit. Edzard reviewed the file he was given, nothing major, just a routine sweep of the ghetto's in the downtown area. A few convoy trucks, a pair of armored cars, one at the front, one at the rear, should have gone perfectly fine, but things should never have been considered routine.
Crimm left his Ghillie suit locked away in his room, taking only his rifle and blade along for the trip, after all there wasn't enough foliage in the area for him to utilize. It had been quite some time since he had been mobilized without his accustomed camouflage. He took his position in the vehicle the new Officer would be traveling in, but wasn't too much for talking, he had a job to do, he just wanted to do it and get back to a hot meal, he had spent a good many weeks in the field as of late and he received this order immediately upon his return, having to forfeit the hot food didn't go over so well but he had expressed no opinion on the matter only nodded and headed off to the armory to refit his ammunition.
For the most part the ride there went off with no problems, the occasional feisty resident, and the occasional gun shot from the lower ranked enlisted men performing the sweep to subdue anyone that finally got tired of dealing with. But Crimm's attention was on the roof tops, the small alley ways down the road, places where some poor soul felt like they could lay in wait to make a difference. The civilians couldn't get weapons easily, but it happened on the rare occasion, and there was no telling what they hadn't found and seized as of yet, this was a fact soon to brought to their attention in a very loud and confusing manner.
Quick and clean, let's get this done and get out of here. Crimm thought as he pulled his eye away from his scope for a moment to look over the events unfolding around him and the Officer. He had yet found the need to fire a shot, but he had noticed quite a large increase in movement that started shortly after they arrived among the people that weren't even being bothered by the search. Such things didn't sit too well with the Scharführer but it didn't seem peculiar enough to warrant him reporting such things. He would find in the near future that would be a mistake, and possibly a lethal one at that.
