Annabella had just gotten home from her dreadful work. She quickly unlocked her door, hardly waiting to get in and slip herself into her bathtub and lie in serenity. She was busy carrying so many papers in one of her arms, that she could hardly open the door. She pushed the door open with her bottom, moving in slowly. She kicked the door and it closed with a slam. She quickly swam over to her bedroom, her work heals clicking at her every step. She dropped the bunch of papers on her oak desk. She breathed out. She felt like a dozen kilos had been lifted off of her back. She quickly moved over to her window and pulled the chiffon curtains together. She began to remove her clothing. She felt even more free when the last piece of clothing had finally left her body. All she had left was her undergarments.
She sighed, quickly moving to her bed and sitting down for a while. She had been up and standing for the past several hours, that she had not even got a minute's rest. Her eyes quickly caught the photograph standing on her bed-side table. It stood up and proud. It had her father, her sister and her mother. Her father had his arm around her shoulder. On his shoulder, sat a Jewish arm brand, glistening clearly in the sun. Anna's sister had the Jewish arm band as well. All were happy and pure. Life was pure back then but now it was just plain horrible. She couldn't even look at herself in the mirror anymore. All she saw was evil. She sighed, brushing off such thoughts. She looked away from the photograph. All it did was give her chills and terrible, terrible memories.
She quickly pulled herself up, moving to the old-fashioned record player. She pulled out a 'Marlene Dietrich' record and carefully set it on the record player. The wonderful voice of Marlene Dietrich rang through the walls of her bedroom as she made her way to her small bathroom. She left the door wide open. The song playing was called Falling in love again. She pulled on the tap and the warm water began pushing itself out of the tap. She moved to the sink, glancing at herself through the mirror. She sighed, inhaling and exhaling a couple of times, trying to release as much stress as possible. She slipped on her silk bathrobe and moved out of the bathroom. The tap was still running and the bathtub was only half full. She needed a glass of old wine to keep herself calm. She walked over to the cabinet in the tiny living room. She pulled out the only wine she had and poured some into a random wine glass she found lying on the counter underneath the wooden cabinet.
She strolled back into her bedroom, taking a sip from the red wine. She sighed heavenly, humming along with the record player. She moved into her tiny bathroom, setting the wine glass next to her bathtub. She slipped off her bathrobe, allowing it to fall gracefully to the floor. She pulled off her undergarments and slowly slipped into the tub. Ah, that felt nice. It was heavenly and she was thankful to have such things in life. She rested her head back against the edge of the tub, allowing her hands to fall freely over the sides of the bathtub. She closed her eyes, listening thoroughly to the sound of Marlene Dietrich's singing. It was then, that she had remembered that her door was not locked. She didn't move an inch. Ah, who really cared? It wasn't as if someone was going to barge in and mutate her serene moment.
