Stepping briskly up to the doors of the officers mess, Lt Scott hesitated then pushed the heavy doors open. Peering in for a moment to make sure he was in the right place, he cautiously made his way into the building. The surroundings were lit well on a gloomy day, and it was obvious that the officers were not too badly off as it was well furbished, Scott nodded greetings to the few other officers in the mess. It was a normal day in army life, so most officers were off on exercises or in classes. That would be Lt Scott tomorrow, for they put you to work fast, but he had the day off as he was a new arrival. He was not tremendously good at making introductions or small talk, so he left the others to what they were doing, and took a seat on one of the chairs. Digging out a book from his pocket that he had been working on, he settled down into the comfortable chair and was soon engulfed in learning American slang for every imaginable thing under the sun.
OOC: I hope I name the thread correctly, and I apologise that it is not all that long. I thought I should make some sort of effort to take part in the Officers society, this was the only way I could think of even starting on the idea. /OOC
