Country: The town of Bitton which is in the suburbs of Bristol
Current Time: 1321 HRS
Weather Conditions: Slightly windy with a bright sun out. The weather is supposed to get 48 kilometers per hour wind.
IC:
The sun shone brightly through the blue sky and clouds on the mid afternoon on a sunny August day. Birds flew freely as they had nothing to stop them from the day. The sounds of honking horns burst through the sky as an American convoy stopped in the middle of Bristol. The stop was for the officers of the unit. They were to give the officers quarters here in this town, for their base would be located about two miles out of the suburbs.
In the front of the convoy a Willys Jeep stopped, having the trucks behind them come to a screeching halt. Heads popped up and started looking out the back of the trucks. Out of the jeep popped a Major with a Corporal behind him as he went to this first building. The multi-colored rustic brick convenient store stood before the Major as he went inside and into the counter followed by his aide.
"Residents of the Higgins Store, your home will be billeted with two officers of the U.S. Army." the Corporal announced. The man behind the counter looked up from what he was doing and announced plainly. "I don't want any of you Yanks living here. The last batch of you nearly demolished this store when they were drunk. They kept acting as though they owned this place." After the Major heard the comment he stepped out of the door and yelled back to the convoy, "Snyder, get your ass up here with your equipment, and get another man to come with you."
A young man in the back of a Willys jeep stood up as he listened to the remark. With a step forward he jumped out of the back and onto the ground, slightly bending his knees as he fell, to make sure that he would not inflict some sort of ringing into his bones. A thud sounded, as the well built lieutenant reached into the back of the jeep and grabbed his duffel bag and his jacket that he put under his arm.
His dark eyes scanned the group of soldiers. The gaze was not on the officers, because they were all new to the entire war business. All of them were fresh from Officer Candidate School, and West Point. A face caught Mike's attention. It was a face of a 1st Sergeant. The reason it caught his attention was that it had a look of having gone to combat on it.
Michael walked over with a simple stride, and leaned over to the 1st Sergeant. "Do you want to be bunked in a house? If so put my jacket on so that the Major thinks you are a lieutenant. Don't worry about anything else, I will take care of it." He whispered into the man's ear with a smile on his face.
