Riley ly prone against the roof of the two-story building, his Lee Enfield digging into his shoulder. His arm was a bit sore from firing so many rounds at the enemy, but the Germans were indeed still startled, so many suppressing bullets raining down upon them. To the South-East, a smaller group of Germans tried to foolishly shoot at Daniel Brennan, the Sergeant accompanying him, but they missed by a long shot, seeing as they were a great distance away. Dan alerted everyone of the German presence to the South, and ordered Corporal Smyth to take aim on them. Riley nodded, Brennan had probably also realized that they wouldn't have time for Riley to approve every order he gave, and Riley could see the Sergeant was a good leader, so Riley didn't need to make sure he was giving the right orders.
The Germans started calling out to each other, and in seconds they rushed out from their cover of trees. "HOLY SHIT! What are they doing? Get inside! Get inside! They're leading a bayonet charge! Burns pick some off!" Riley called out to the men below. Smyth and Teal had been able to get inside, but Webb hadn't been so lucky. Burns and Riley were laying down fire on the advancing Germans, but two were too fast to hit. Riley noticed two others charging, but they weren't as fast. He could see one was a man he had wounded early, right in the hip. The man was having difficulty running, and Riley shook his head. What foolish leader had ordered this man to charge? Giving covering fire would've been a better idea. Riley grunted a little as he lined up his sites on the man's chest, and fired, watching his body drop to the ground lifelessly. The three other Germans had made it to the building.
Private Webb had fallen into shock when the bayonet charge began. He tried his best to crawl into the building, but some angry Germans brutally murdered him with their bayonets. Riley grimaced as he heard the wounded man scream and holler in pain. He was already wounded! Why couldn't you spare him you bastards! But just as Riley thought about it...seconds ago he had killed a wounded man as well. But that was the German leaders fault. You shouldn't order a wounded man to charge crazily across the battlefield. May God bless that dead German's soul.
The three surviving Germans of the bayonet charge had taken cover behind the sandbags. One of them, probably the one in charge was calling out to them. Riley wasn't excellent at speaking German, but over the years he had learned some of it. He asked for surrender or they would mutilate Webb's corpse? The German bastards... Riley could overhear something about a Tiger Tank. The Americans would stay and hold their ground. They probably had their own tanks rolling this way already.
"Burns lay down some fire on those sandbags from the 2nd Floor! Well aimed shots. Aim carefully and don't fire too many. I want to kill those bastardly Germans, not scare them. Teal and Webb, don't forgot we got some German friends coming in from the South-East. Keep your fire on them! Same thing, well aimed shots! One of you move to the 2nd Floor if you need a better view, but keep one down there in case the Germans charge the house. We already saw how crazy they are. Oh and...lock the damn door! Riley barked out. He shifted onto the side of the roof that was facing away from the Germans. He would have to wait for Burns to fire at the Germans.
Private Teal slammed the wooden door shut, and locked it. Corporal Smyth announced he would be the one to go upstairs for a better shot. When he arrived he saw Burns approaching a window that was overlooking the sandbags, while Smyth decided to look out a window on the left side of the house that was looking out towards the South-East. The glass in Burns's window had already been shattered, but Smyth had to break the glass in his window with the butt of his rifle. Smyth leaned out and found one that he had a good shot at. He took aim at his upper torso, the thickest part of the body and steadied his breathing. Pulling down on the trigger he let a shot rang out. He then repeated the process and fired at the upper torso again. He spotted another German, who was further back. He aimed up a shot on the upper torso, and fired an accurate shot. Teal was downstairs, almost directly below Smyth, looking out a window that had the same view as Smyth. He slowly aimed on the closer German, and fired one single shot at the German's chest. Then he also noticed the German further back, and repeated the process, firing a shot at his chest as well. Repositioning himself in another window, he spotted a German with an MP44. He took aim at the chest area, and steadied himself, before pulling the trigger and taking cover, hoping not to get hit by the Germans behind the sandbags.
Burns had positioned himself in a window, and took aim on a German at the middle of the sandbags head. It seemed to be an accurate shot, so Burns lined up his iron sights on the Germans head and began to breathe a little slower. Slowly, he pulled down on the trigger and sent a bullet hurdling towards the Germans head. Stepping to the left, he positioned himself in a new window, and took aim at a new German. He had a view of his mans upper chest and shoulders, and decided to hit him there. His iron sights lined up, his breathing got slower, and finally he sent another bullet headed towards another German. Oh boy was he pissed. His friend Webb had been brutally murdered, and he was trying to avenge the young Private, by sending these Germans to hell. He stepped to his right, back into his old window, and yet again took aim at a Germans neck/shoulder. He aimed his iron sights a bit lower, hoping the bullet would swerve a little upwards and hit its mark.
With anger in his eyes, Riley began to take aim at the Germans below at the sand bags. He had crawled a bit over to the other side of the roof when he heard Burns fire three shots towards the Germans, which would hopefully kill or force them to hide behind the sandbags and not fire at the roof. Riley grinned as he began to look at the Germans from his spot on the roof. He only wished he had an SMG so he could just cut the Germans down in seconds. But he didn't starting from the right, Riley took aim at the first German, and sent an accurate shot at him. He repeated this with the other two Germans, so in all 6 shots had been fired at them from himself and Burns. Riley rolled back over to the other side of the roof for cover, in case a German fired up at him. "TAKE THAT YOU GERMAN BASTARDS!" He yelled furiously.
