OOC: It's a not a typo in the title of this thread, seriously Nathan, your George account says; O'Brain? Is it supposed to be, O'Brian?
Also, I may be inactive over the New-Year period, to just be fore-warning everyone.

It was time; Oberleutnant Steinbeck silently thought to himself, whilst he tapped his index finger against the plain unscathed glass of his wrist-watch, tapping the watch as it if were a thermometer, being sure that the minute hand beneath the cold glass was indeed accurately telling the time. Pausing, Oberleutnant Steinbeck lowered his wrist and craned his neck to look over his shoulder towards the fit troop of men beneath his command for the arduous task ahead. If nerves of steel were to be described in such formalities, it would be the simple look of the men’s faces before himself; each of the soldiers calm exquisite looks showing no apprehension or anxiety. It was such calmness amongst the men that became contagious, even the Oberleutnant’s nerves bathed in their trusted calmness. The trust of having one another’s backs.
Straightening his brown leather jacket, Oberleutnant Steinbeck twisted upon his jackboot heels against the dirt and slowly moved around one of the trees within his path to approach the men quietly sharing their last cigarettes amongst themselves and having a quiet talk. Unteroffizier Volker seemed to be telling a past experience, an extravagant story of gunfire and artillery shells falling all around himself, whilst he single handily killed three men who fell into his fox-hole. Kyle couldn’t help but smile to himself, whilst he silently listened for a brief moment, knowing the story would bolster the men’s faith in an experienced soldier - truth or not, it didn’t make a difference. Just as long as they followed Kyle’s word and the Unteroffizier’s lead, they wouldn’t fall short of being behind.
Adjusting his MP40 to rest against his abdomen and hang against his front for better comfort, the Oberleutnant took another step towards the small troop finishing up their cigarettes. “Beenden Sie Ihre Zigaretten, überprüfen Sie Ihr Zahnrad, und sicher sind werden Ihre Waffen geladen. Wir bewegen uns in zwei Minuten. Unteroffizier Volker, ein Wort bitte” the Oberleutnant said ordering to the men and requesting the Unteroffizier’s audience. As the NCO approached quickly, he slung the leather strap to his MP40 over his shoulder and stood beside the Oberleutnant as he began to walk slowly to the tree-line of the forest they were situated in for cover.
Ich habe nicht vor, überrascht zu sein! the Oberleutnant clarified with his NCO, the man merely nodding and agreeing with a simple; “Jawohl!”[/b] before saluting and moving back to the troop to select his ‘volunteers’, most probably his best four shots of the men.
Once ready, the troop advanced cautiously out of the woodlands towards the small area of what seemed to be stone-mason buildings and a crossroads. Oberleutnant Steinbeck hurried across the greenery quickly, his body crouched forwards as he moved along the dirt, glancing to his left every several seconds, looking to his Unteroffizier leading four soldiers quickly in the same manner. Everyone was cautiously and silently advancing upwards in a stealthily, but quick manner. First to arrive at the buildings were the Unteroffizier and his troop of four men, the soldiers readily peeking through the windows of the building they had surrounded, checking for any sign of life. Meanwhile, Oberleutnant Steinbeck and his detail of two men landed their bodies against the cold stone wall of the building they’d advanced on and like mice, whispered in a deaf-tone manner to one another…
“Stellen Sie das Maschinengewehr auf der Ecke auf, erhalten Sie Ihre Augen zur Straße aufrecht” he ordered to the heavy gunner in a whisper, but thankfully the man heard him, as he nodded and quickly moved to the corner of the building, flattening onto his stomach as he slowly slithered the barrel of the MG42 through a patch of thick grass, before stiffening out the tripod into the patch of greenery for camouflage. Shouldering the heavy MG42, he laid flat and watched the road, whilst Oberleutnant Steinbeck pointed upwards to the window, for the fellow soldier to look in and check. It would have been foolish for the Oberleutnant to stick his head up and risk being shot, but thankfully the soldier leaned back down after peering in and shook his head, indicating there was no obvious sign of life within.
Moving cautiously towards the end of the building, the Oberleutnant looked across the way towards his Unteroffizier who done the same, holding up his hand in a balled fist and shaking his head. Signalling that there was no sign of life on the left flank, the Oberleutnant merely stuck his thumb up, indicating the same result on his side of the flank, before he pointed to his eyes and then strafed his hand up towards the road, giving the order for them to set up positions and watch up front for movement.

- Unteroffizier, you will pick four volunteers and advance from the left. You will hold your ground and station a good line, I intend on advancing from the right with the heavy gunner and one additional man. Enemies are reported to be within the area, so you will stay within eyeshot at all times and pass on signals of enemy numbers, positions and whatever else... I don't intend to be surprised.
