Character History:
Christoph was born on a small farm outside of Rome Italy, July 20, 1921. As a young boy Christoph helped his father on the farm. He preferred to play with his friends, but as he grew older he began to realize the importance of working on the farm and that it was only as boring as he made it. Christoph would often pretend to be an Italian soldier during the great war as he went about his duties on the farm. When he turned 11 his parents sent him to school. There his favorite subject (and the one he was best at) was Science. Unfortunately Christoph's parents were only able to send him to school until he was 15. For the next four years Christoph again helped his father run the farm.
When Mussolini invaded parts of North Africa, Christoph decided to join the Italian Army. His parents wanted him to stay at home, but he begged them to let him join the Army. After a few days his parents relented and said that as long as he fought with valor for Italy they would let him join. So Christoph promised, and the next day he joined the Army. After he completed basic training Christoph was sent to Egypt. Christoph knew the Italian Army was not perfect, but nothing prepared him for the defeats he saw the the Italian Army suffer. And the would be defeats if the German General Rommel had not been there to help. Despite the short comings in most of his fellow soldiers Christoph fought with as much valor as he could. During one battle Christoph took over the position of a dead German MG team. He managed to hold of the British attackers long enough for his German and Italian comrades to retreat. After the battle Christoph was given a promotion and assigned to be a machine-gunner. As Christoph was being transported to the defense of Sicily he vowed that he would do all he could to defend his homeland, or die trying.

Writing Sample:
Outside of Rome Italy, Afternoon,
"Lost, lost!" Christoph muttered to himself. "Of all the places to get lost, why here?!" Christoph had been wondering around the country-side for hours. Earlier he had gotten lost after a skirmish with Allied forces. An artillery shell had burst near Christoph, nocking him off his feet and into unconsciousness. When woke up he could here nothing, neither could he see any one. Not even an allied soldier. So he got up to try and make his way back to Axis lines. It was easier said then done. Christoph could not even find a house. It seemed to him that the whole world was deserted and he was the only person left.
He wandered on a little more. Then Christoph decided to go up on top of a near-by hill and see what he could see. Once on top of the hill he looked out and saw the city of Rome. It was not far off. Christoph guessed that if he hurried he could make it there before the little dots he recognized as Allied soldiers surrounded the city. He walked down the hill, and as soon as he was off it he began to run. Christoph ran and ran as far as he could without stoping. When he did stop running, he could see a the city, and a way into it not blocked by allied soldiers. But before he began running again he herd something. It was the snap of branch! Christoph whirled around. He could see nothing. Then from behind a small hill he saw a rifle, pointed at him!
Christoph dropped to the ground as a bullet whizzed by over his head. He readied his machine-gun as more bullets impacted the grass around him. KRACKCRACKKRACKKRACK. Christoph fired back. There was a thud, and then silence. Christoph got up as quick as he could and made a mad dash into the city of Rome. There may have been only a little chance that he would survive the coming battle, but he wasn't about to let his country fall without a fight.
