Seeing as we now have a few games on the site, I thought of a more detailed game the forum could take part in. Only problem is, it requires active members every 24hrs.
Here's the details of the game I'm suggesting anyway. I've made it brief, but ask any questions on the areas you don't understand and I'll explain. It's a turn based game that includes the whole forum.
The Spy Game
This game is made up of as many active players as possible, but let's just say ten for a standard number for now. There are four important roles: The Narrator (mod of this game), The Spy, The Resistance Helper and The Nazis. Only one person can be the spy and only one person can be the resistance helper, everyone else will be Nazis.
How the game works:
The Narrator of the round will secretly assign the Spy and the Resistance Helper role to two people. Everyone will be classed as a Nazi (or just soldier even) and it's up to the Nazis to figure out who the spy and his helper is. The Nazis get to vote every 24hrs on who gets eliminated from the group as being the spy.
How each role performs:
The Spy:
The only people who know who the spy, is the Narrator (who assigns the role randomly) and the Resistance Helper. The Spy must maintain his secret identity at all times and work with the Resistance Helper on elminating all of the Nazis by passing on the suspicions of being a spy on the others. The Spy doesn't vote, but can pretend to have voted.
The Resistance Helper:
The RH is the Spy's friend and must help to maintain the Spy's secret identity by helping to shift the suspicion onto other members in the game. The RH can also find out the votes made by the Nazis at the end of each voting round, the RH can only do this if they request the vote results "prior" to the voting completely finishes.
Should they request the final results too early, they may only find out a few of who people have voted for. Should they request the results once everyone has voted (but the Narrator hasn't released who's eliminated) then the RH will get the full scoop.
With the results, the RH can help the Spy in the next round with the vote statistics of who has voted for who and how they can pass the suspicion onto others more easily. These voting results must be kept secret between the the RH and the Spy at all times.
The RH doesn't vote, but can pretend to have voted.
Nazis/Soldiers:
The Nazis are EVERYONE else in the game (be reminded that the SPY and RH will also be posing as Nazis) and must work together to try and figure out who the Spy and his helper is after each round.
Trust will be hard to find, so eliminating the Spy will be difficult.
Voting:
When voting, all votes must be sent through PM to the Narrator of the game's round. The member with the majority of the votes, will be eliminated and the next round will occur. The game will only end once the Spy has been eliminated. The Resistance Helper can be eliminated and the game may still continue...
You can talk about your votes publically, but when making your final vote, you must PM it to the Narrator.
When a TIE occurs between two or more NAZI members, the SPY gets to choose who gets eliminated in secret.
When a TIE occurs between a SPY and NAZI, the NAZI is automatically eliminated and the SPY is able to slip out of the tie situation.
So is the voting understood? Spy and RH do not vote, just influence the Nazis to vote. The only time a Spy will have to vote, is when a tie occurs between two or more Nazi members.
Failure to vote within the 24hrs:
If you are inactive and unable to vote within the 24hrs, you will automatically be put onto the elimination list. The person/s with the majority votes from those who did vote, will be put onto the elimination list alongside the inactive candidates.
Should this occur, the Spy will choose who is eliminated.
So what does everyone think of the game? It's a turn based game that occurs every 24hrs. We could always make it 48hrs due to a very large lack of activity, to give people a chance maybe? I know it's a slightly confusing game too, but will be quite fun watching everyone discuss votes and who they should vote for.
Oh I also forgot to mention that the turn based style will be RPG formatted. So attempt to stay in a vague character when discussing your votes or whatever. The eliminations will be something like this: "Herr Nathan was stabbed in a frenzied attack by three people whilst he slept" - that way, it gives small clues away to the amount of people who voted for that person and how many are actually owning up to voting for that person.
Another example: "Herr Erik caught a glimpse of the true spy, before he was shot several times by a single pistol" and that would give clues that people's votes were split with a majority and the Spy had to eliminate a target. Instead of the majority vote counting.
When people are eliminated, their true identities will be revealed, so:
- Erik: Nazi
- Nathan: Nazi
- Gero: Resistance Helper
Let me know what you think of the game and ask any questions below, this took me ages to write up, but hope I have covered all the areas.
