I read somewhere that certified characters can offer services such as vehicle repairs for CP in order to save a member having to buy a whole new tank or truck, has anyone actually done that before and if so, did it work out? If no one has I plan to be the first, but I’m just wondering how I would go about it. Obviously I need the Cert first, but after that…. What then?
well from my knowledge - yes it has been done before. If a member or division have a damaged piece of equipment (remember, firearms can be damaged too) then you can offer your services freely or at a price.
Moderators in the past have put "set prices" on damaged equipment to be automatically repaired, so for instance: halftrack damaged = 13CP to repair. Which I guess you could call a loophole? But then not many people have engineer certs to offer and so this set price is a way of offering the member a chance to not have to throw their vehicle or equipment away.
If there is a set price, then you may have to negotiate your own price inbetween that set price give the seller a profit and of course, any repairs you make will be considered a slow profit (only have to pay off your cert, tools are free).
When repairing an item in question, you firstly notify a staff member you're about to "attempt" to repair the broken/damaged equipment in question and open a thread with the equipment's owner (or a fellow divisional member if not?) and continue to make the repairs during the thread, where a moderator will pass frequent mods on your progress. You can fail.
It's rather simple really, but like I said, there aren't many certified engineers right now and so set prices are often made on broken equipment so the member/s can automatically get their repairs. If you use the engineer cert to start a business, be sure to notify your division or allied members of your services. With enough certified members on the site with engineer status, the set prices will decrease on items and allow these certs to come into full action, which in turn, could drive your prices up - if charging.
Does that explain everything? ~Danny

Im thinking once the call has been made I make a single post in the battle to make the bombing run before flying off. I don't want CP from the end of the battle (But wont argue if its given) Im just trying to make things more.... exciting? and a touch more realistic. What do you think?
Wow, I just sat here straight faced and mouth slightly open. Never saw this coming?
I guess you can offer your services for a price, yes. I don't feel there's a problem with that, but I'm just happy to see you're at least being devoted to your division, otherwise I don't think that little advert above would have gone down well. As for offering air-support to neighbouring allied divisions for a small price, I guess that seems reasonable enough, but I don't it's as clean-cut as you may think though.
When a member calls in "support" to their battle, it can be a 50/50 situation as to whether that call goes through, let alone any successful payload drops on the correct coordinates. Usually, for instance, air-support when entering a battle would make an introductory post "into" the battle (not dropping payloads), then the governing action post the following round - so whether it's dropping the payload or whatever - then a departure post third and foremost.
Why three posts? Well, it's all good and fun just swooping into the battle in one single post, dropping bombs and flying out, but realistically, with a three post scheme the enemy have a chance to evade - counter - regroup. Each post in a battle is commonly between three to five minutes worth of "in game" action, regularly it can be less. So any type of support coming into a battle can be injuried/damaged/killed, obviously.
As long as you know those risks and don't think it's just a single post barrage into a battle, then that's fine. In some instances, you may even find yourself being dragged into the battle if you're shot-down, persued by enemy aircrafts or ordered to make another run. So it's entirely unpredictable, but what is certain, that there's usually a three limit post for air support when coming into a battle, so again: Introductory post (can't be shot at, you're not above the enemy just yet), action post (dropping payload or whatever else), exit post.
Like I said, depending on complications arising, orders or whatever else, you may be required to remain in the battle longer than the three standard posts. Put it this way, you can't just fly free if the enemy have air-support of their own to hunt you down or your aircraft takes damage and you're "unable" to exit successfully. So be warned. ~Danny

I was acualy hopeing it would work out something like that, Im sitting here with a big old grin and running images though my head.
The three post thing makes sence, and if I get shot down... oh well. Im just trying to add something to the site. Thanks for all your help Danny, i've got things to plan now.
I'm glad you understand and I'm not saying your scheme above is worthless, in fact it's probably a good business, considering we hardly have any air support on this site and Nathan being the single leader of the aviation leaderboard here, I think you'll find little competition when it comes to offering air support for a price or otherwise.
Again, I was just making sure you understood the risks when offering air support (like any support coming into a battle, there's always risks), but I think it's a good idea and if you got enough equipment under your belt to make different types of support. Whether it's bombing, fighting enemy aircrafts or even supply drops, it's all potential money to be made and getting into the fray of battle.
But yess... There's always risks, so just wanted to make that clear, just in case you thought air-support would be a single post. ~Danny
Didn't want to make an entirely new post for this, but in the 3ID, we spell it "Armor"...it's spelled "Armour" in the 7AD, Coller
