Name: Michael Brooks
Nationality:
American
What Army will Your Character Serve Beneath?
UK, US or Soviet: US Army
Character History:
Michael was born January 18th 1923 in Richmond Virginia.
While he was in school Michael excelled at history. He was particularly interested WWI and Radios (his father owned a radio repair shop).
During the depression he did odd jobs around his neighborhood. When he went to high school Michael joined the soccer team and managed to score the first (and only) goal of the season, but in the coming years the team managed to make it to the championships. When he was 18 he went to a nearby community college.
While he was in college he helped his father in his radio fixing shop when possible.
There he tried to learn as much about radios as he could.
One day a shooting contest was held. Michael shot 4 rounds out of 5 within 2 centimeters of the center. He finished second best in the contest.
In December of 1941 the Japanese attached Pearl Harbor and more than one relative was stationed there.
Only one came home still alive. Next year, instead of continuing college Michael enlisted in the US Army.
During Basic training, because of his radio skills he was picked to be a radioman.
When basic training was over he was assigned to the 9th Infantry Division, and fought in N. Africa.
There saving the life of reckless teammate.
Consequently being wounded in the left foot.
Fortunately he was able to return back to active duty(with the 3rd ID) in less than a year.
From there he went on to fight in Normandy, France, Belgium and Germany.
Military Rank:
Private First Class
Writing Sample:
It was a cold evening (even for the Ardennes forest in Belgium) and snow was falling all around the radioman.
Normally Michael liked the snow, but it seemed to him that this snow was coming down just to make a bad day worse.
The Germans had launched an offensive, he had been separated from his unit, it was freezing cold, and his radio was broken. Michael felt like it couldn't have gotten much worse. He was wrong.
As he made his way through row after row of trees the eerie feeling that someone was following him began to grow.
Then after he had passed a few more rows of trees, a twig snapped behind him.
He turned quickly around, his M1 Garand raised. There was nothing he could see at first that was out of the ordinary. Then he saw something, a boot!
Michael was on his stomach in an instant. A second later he heard a CLICK, CLICK and then a bullet sped over his head, barely missing him.
The German fired again, hitting only centimeters from Michael. Not waiting any longer the radioman raised his gun and fired back.
BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, CLICK. The empty cartridge fell to the ground with a THUD. Michael hurried to re-load, then the German fell down, dead.
Not taking the chance that there were more around Michael got up and ran as fast as he could in the direction he hoped friendly lines were. After a few more minutes a voice with a distinctively Texan accent called out, "Stop!" Michael obeyed.
"You got a password!?" The voice asked. Happy to hear another American The tired Radioman Answered the question.
"Yes! Lima beans!" There was silence, then, "great! come on back to American lines!"
Is there any chance I can have 20 CP to get the radioman qualification?(I promise that would be all I would spend it on) If not I'll just start out as a normal infantryman.
