Hello, Frank!

Welcome to the site. Anyway, to answer your question, no the site does not follow a timeline. So in a sense, it's happening all at once. This is so we don't limit our members here as they are allowed to RP at any point in the war, but it would make us happier if you stuck to some realism. So no Russians in North Africa or anything like that. We can be a little lenient with this from time to time and are able to look past a few odd inconsistencies that happen every now and then (for example: Someone is promoted in a thread set around 1944, but rp in a thread in 1941 with that rank).

On to your next question. To join a battle, you will need to go to the Battle Sign up area. A battle sign up must be created before the actual thread is. I would suggest RPing in a few neutrals to get a hang of the site and getting some CP for this (currency on the site). From there you can buy some infantry from the shop and either look for or create an open battle sign up.
