What Army will Your Character Serve Beneath?
U.S. Army
Character History:
Born January 15, 1889, Nick Staffing is the son of an Alabama farmer, and a Georgia schoolteacher. Because of his father's job, he was often mocked at the school he went to, which was located on the upper North side of town (a section that normally only wealthy Alabamians sent their children). Nick escaped the teasing by his fellow schoolchildren by staying in the school library and studying history, his favorite subject. In 1904, Nick entered Westington High School, in Mobile, Alabama. It was here he met his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Runn, a girl that was 5'02'', and only weighted 101 pounds. Nick was completely in love with her, as she was with him. After graduation, Nick proposed, and Jennifer (or Jenny, as he called her) accepted. Nick was 18 years old. Jenny was soon pregnant and Nick went off to look for work, landing a job in a steel processing factory. All was well until the outbreak of the Great War, and the United States' subsequent entry into the war. Nick was drafted and sent to France, leaving behind a pregnant wife carrying his first son, a son they had planned to name Eli. Nick entered the war as an infantryman, but due to several mishaps, never managed to see much combat- Until July 15th, 1918. It was during the Second Battle of the Marne where Nick really earned his stripes- he successfully captured 5 field batteries, killed 20 enemy troops, and captured 35 more alive (with the help of the other doughboys, of course). He was promoted to sergeant for his actions, and towards the end of the war he was promoted to staff sergeant. After being released from active duty, Nick returned home to his loving family- His wife, his son Eli, and his new home. Things were not to stay peaceful, however, as the great depression forced Nick out of his job. Luckily, he still had a few contacts within the Army, and he was able to retain his rank of staff sergeant. He preformed excellently at his job, so well in fact he was promoted directly to sergeant-major, a position that allowed him to spent more time with his family. The outbreak of World War 2, however, changed everything- Although the U.S. did not declare war, Nick was busier than ever, forcing to him to stay longer and longer hours at work, putting a strain on his and Jenny's relationship. After awhile, however, things became better for Nick- he had fewer hours (but still pulled in a good income), and was able to come back home more often. On December 7th, 1941, everything was once again flipped. Nick was called back in for a massive recruitment drive as well as many draftees, he was soon sent to Europe, where he had no idea what was in store...
Military Rank:
Going for Sergeant-Major, I want to make this my 'administrative' character, not so much for battle, but more for pencil pushing I guess...

Scenario: You’re alone behind enemy lines and you get the eerie feeling someone’s watching you. You’re trying to remain quiet, stay low, work your way back to the frontlines - but you can’t help but feel you’re being followed… (How does your character React? What’s running through their mind?)
Nick motioned his men to hit the dirt, and all of them obeyed quickly. Private Allens, gave a glance to Nick, and whispered softly: "Something wrong Sarge?" Nick gave a shushing motion with his finger, and his squad remained quiet. They remained on the dirt for a few seconds, before they heard a voice- A voice that sounded uncomfortably near to them. "Ja, ich hätte eidesstattlicher sah ich etwas über Hier Sir, aber ich vermute es muss ein Tier oder etwas..." Nick motioned for his squad to turn towards the voices, which they did quietly and quickly. He then motioned them to get their weapons ready, and as a few of the privates raised their weapons, Nick heard what he wanted to hear, "Scheiße,Amerikaner! Amerikanisch- " The German's last words were cut short, as Nick yelled "Open fire!". Nick's 4 privates, and 2 corporals open fire, each using a B.A.R. that Nick had skillfully 'borrowed' from the quartermaster. The bullets ripped through the air, making a massive roar with a distinct sound. The German who had yelled was shot multiple times, and the rest of his squad was just as lucky- When Nick ordered them to stop, all the Germans laid dead. "Good job fellas, it seems you ain't so bad after all." Nick and his squad laughed, and after rummaging through the fallen Axis soldiers, they continued their way deep into the dark forest.
