Name: Amanda Knight
Nationality: American
Character History:
- Amanda May Knight was born on 4th October in Georgia, two years after her older brother – Jackson - was born. Her family lived in Atlanta, the main city of the state. Her father owned a car shop in one of the popular parts of the city so income and money wasn’t a problem for lucky Amber and Jackson.
Amanda's mother was well known amongst the local folk, she was a popular person because of her kindness and helpfulness to people in need and these traits rubbed off onto Amanda. Growing up in a fast growing city had its ups and downs like all cities, there were new people everyday to see…
Because of the amount of money coming in, Amanda and her brother were able to go to the best school in the city “St Hopes Education School”, they both left with honours, Amanda more so then her brother. This proved that Amanda was smart; she had always been told that she was something special but to be told that by the head of the best school in the state was something to go by. As she had been into English whilst at school, a writing career beckoned her. Jackson went off into the army while she went off to a college to study English.
During this course she met a handsome man by the name of Ryan Lary, the two got on extremely well and in the end began to go out together.
However, four years into the course the Second World War broke out in Europe in 1939. Nothing happened for quiet some time, the city was the same as it always had been, the war didn’t reach Atlanta in force until 1941 just when the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbour. The United States government went into army mode and started recruiting as many people as possible, the men of Atlanta joined up to fight for their country and were soon shipped off across the seas to Europe by Spring of 1942.
Jackson had already been in the army for four years so was sent off with the first wave of men. Ryan told his sweetheart that he too would join up to help his country. Because of his good education and keen fitness he was promoted as soon as he entered the building as Sergeant and like her own brother was sent off.
Amanda was distressed; both her loves had gone off to fight a war that looked like it would not end soon. She was in two minds about joining, should she leave and try and end the war as swiftly as was possible? Or stay at home and look after her parents, of course they would want her to stay, not want her to leave like their son…However, against the odds Amber set off for Europe, joining up and because of her English course that she had had to leave back home and because she was good with words, she was taken in by the medical board as a receptionist for the 3ID medical centre. She took the job and can now be found busy with calls and injured men…but her love Ryan was dead, she had found out only a few weeks ago and now what with that and her brother still fighting somewhere, life isn’t all a ray of sunshine.

The night was cold; a small breeze was blowing onto the faces of the women as they walked along the English road towards their accommodation for the night.
”You alright Amanda?” one of the women spoke to another, the one with the brown hair in curls.
Amanda looked over at her friend Sue, the girl’s hair was tied back in a bun, but parts of her blonde hair were coming out at the sides and hanging like spider threads in the moonlight. ”Yeah, yeah awright I am.” she nodded, her thick Southern accent very pronounced against the English ones around her.
A commotion had caught her eye along the road up ahead, the noise was getting louder and louder, ”That’s HQ.” Sue said suddenly, her face turned to horror as she saw troops come running towards the group of five women, huddling against their shawls.
”What’s goin’ on?” Amanda said as they all flattened themselves against the wall of the nearby house, the troops rushed past, guns raised…
”No idea.” came one of the other women, the group of men rushed off into the darkness, the five women looked at each other in fright.
”Ah ladies, sorry about that.” a voice came from nearby and they all turned, Amber studied the man in front of her, tall, black hair, a moustache…he looked young…he reminded her of her Ryan who was dead. He wore an English uniform, clean and smart, medals hung on his chest…
”No worries sir.” Amanda spoke carefully, the others nodded their agreement. The man nodded to them, tipped his cap then ran off after his men.
The women looked at one another, smiling softly and went on into the night, their boots tapping against the pavement. It seemed like nothing had happened now, the men were far away, trying to catch the attackers of the head quarters…
