No this is not a sign-up as of yet, I wanted to see how people were fixed with their battle options and whether this battle I have in mind will even work. Come to think of it, I would probably be a lot better off having a minor battle to introduce me back into the world of IO.
My first battle plan was to have a full on assault tank-battle with either the 3ID or 7AD. Three tanks, twenty infantry per side maybe, but I understand a lot of people are in battles already and the more I think about it, the less appealing it becomes for some reason.
I'm quite happy to have an infantry based fire-fight however, but if so, I don't deal in small numbers. So anywhere between a full sized platoon and more would be fantastic.
It would be good idea to find out who is open for a battle first of all, so if you are willing to have a battle with me first and foremost, please just let me know and I figure the rest could be sorted out afterwards. I don't wish to fight with anyone proposing a squad based skirmish or going toe to toe single handed. I would just slaughter you. Lol.
Again let me know what everyone thinks and fingers crossed I can finally get myself into a battle after many months of sombering on the sidelines. - Raf

It might be a bit hard to get yourself an opponent for this one, I'm afraid. At the moment the site is concentrating on smaller squad based battles, so not many people have more than 15 (or so) men. Off the top of my head I can name a few people that have 20+ men ready to fight (There may be more that I'm forgetting): Ealing - a bit inactive at the moment. I think his Davies character would also be able to meet your demands, but yeah... Patterson - in a battle already Brentwood - Pretty much active, but don't know if he'd join.
Other than that, you might have to take on more than one person to get the right numbers. Like, a 2v1.

Well isn't that grim. I would drop my NPC standards, but a Major of the ranks leading a squad based fight just seems so unrealistic. Thank you for explaining things to me Dan, it seems as though I may have to wait and keep myself busy in a neutral or two... For another few months...
If anyone from the Waffen-SS; Das Reich! (my division) or the 21st Afrika Korps require any reinforcements, please be advised that I'm willing to help. You may wonder why I have chosen to support the 21st personally, well let's say Erik has done a good job on my throne. Always happy to repay a favour.
Oh and if anyone can meet the demand of 10+ infantry (preferably a platoon 20+) please leave a message here. - Raf

Sorry if disturbing here, but a Major leading a force into a squad sized combat wouldn't be too unrealistic at all. You've got to consider that, especially during the later time of the war, the German troops had to suffer heavy casualties and so units got quite often reduced to less than the half of it's initial manpower. So everything just depends on the situation.

Well I'm not battling from the end of the war. ;D Valid point though and yes, even during hype of the war, the Germans battled hard on the eastern-front. Technically though, a lot of those troops were companies combined of criminals, believe it or not.
The eastern-front was the worst place to be and so a lot of "penal" regiments (companies built with criminals) were sent out to serve their country. Very little managed to redeem themselves however, because very little survived. Otherwise, I don't really see a Major fighting alongside a few men like a grunt.
You are correct though, it did happen towards the end of the war, if they weren't biting the capsule to avoid capture, but unfortunately I'm acting my rank and perhaps being too realistic?
As for you Punk, if things change, please tell me. I wouldn't mind a re-match. - Raf

Didn't your brother join and join the Afrika Korps?

Well, this account will [Hopefully] become Tech. Sergeant Don Levi in the next few days, and [Once again, hopefully] I will have about 10 Privates and 1 Corporal under my wing. I also have a map courtesy of Addie to host a battle on. I know it isn't exactly the numbers you are looking for, but you could always join that if you wanted too.
I'm confused, what does that have to do with anything Brian? - Raf

I remember when he joined, he was saying that you would help fund the Afrika Korps (men, tanks, etc etc) and when you said the above ^, he popped in my mind, tis all.

Oh ok? Well nothing personal to the Afrika Korps, but I didn't say I was going to fund them? I have an entire division of my own to worry about, if my brother joined that division, then it would have been him suggesting on funding the division.
Hasn't my brother been on here for a while? I don't see much of him these days. - Raf

Yes, Baker. There were discussions in the works with Angelus as he wanted to merge into a different Werhmacht division and help fund/co-lead it. He's probably been inactive longer than Raf has, so it didn't quite happen and probably isn't going to happen. Shouldn't hijack other peoples threads though.
