Well, following in the footsteps of a long line of plot threads, I am interested in getting my German officer, Joachim von Goethe. I will just introduce him a bit, to let you know what type of person he is.
- Quiet, keep-opinions to himself kind of man
- Failing lungs and kidneys, which he keeps extremely secret
- Slowly becoming anti-war/anti-Nazi, but once again keeps his opinions to himself
- Rather kind, but can have his cruel moments
I am pretty much open to anything, as long as it isn't "over the top". Please post here or PM me if you are interested.

Crashing into the Bristol Channel and surviving. Or the English Channel. Or England itself. Depends on where you want to end up, and your odds of getting back to Germany unscathed. It would definitely be interesting to see Joachim's perspective in a land where everybody wants him dead for being a German soldier.
Or, if you want something less extreme-sounding, why not have Joachim's lungs or kidneys fail on him in the battlefield? Such as a severe lung or kidney infection that Joachim tries to keep secret, so he can continue working? Both are extremely serious - you need lungs to breathe, kidneys to filter toxins out of the bloodstream - so it might be a very plotty idea.

Oh my gosh, you are brilliant Addie!
I have played with the idea in my mind for a bit and have come up with an acceptable vision. The Channel Islands where occupied by German troops on June 30, 1940, for nothing more than the propoganda of the Third Reich controlling some of Great Britain. The Germans did not know how heavily fortified the islands where, so several reconnosiance flights and bombing runs where made in the weeks before. Joachim was invited on one of the reconnosiance planes to survay the island of Guernsey, where his platoon is ready to land at the moments notice. While flying over the villiage the aircraft experiences some type of mechanical failure and is forced to crash land just outside of Guernsey. The pilot is killed and Joachim is scratched and bruised badly and forced to surrender by the tiny British garrison and its townspeople. He goes through a grueling week and a half before the German troops finally arrive and tend to badly battered Joachim.

It could work. The only problem I see is that whoever's at the small garrison you mentioned would possibly be at the mercy of the Germans. Pardon me if I am blanking here, but wouldn't it make sense that whoever volunteers would probably end up as a P.O.W.?

Hmm, well, I have come up with a somewhat unlikely fix. Churchill designated the Islands unnecessary to protect due too tactical uselessness, and shipped out most of its children and military from Guernsey, it might be possible that the characters are shipped out on the last ship, just days before the final surrender?
EDIT:
Any Germans interested could also join and have a thread directly after the occupation.

That could possibly work - I knew I was missing something about the Channel Islands.
I also apologize if I am blanking again - I researched more of the impact the war had on civilians than soldiers for my neutral characters - but wouldn't it also make sense that Joachim be taken back to England for questioning? He is an officer, after all.

Uh. No.
Besides, this thread is about Joachim not Jonas. I was just poking fun at the similarities between them. So please don't turn this into some crazy POW escape idea thread. Stick to the topic.

If your idea is serious, Baker, then you will have to secure mod permission for such, since the Epic Campaign is as dead as a rusted nail at the moment, it seems. Erik also states another good point.
Edit: Basically, what Erik said. I posted too late.
Wait, I thought Joachim was starting a mountain division? Why is he going to be parachuting into the Channel Islands?
He sounds like too much like Jonas. Jonas will make you pay for such. You watch yourself.
*shakes fist*
Good point. Naysayers.
I'm just kidding, no hard feelings, it was late at night where I live when I came up with that. I'll probably just scrap it and come up with another idea.

Plots involving a character's conscience would also be an idea. Also, I apologize about my previous suggestion of crashing into the Channel; I was thinking more along the lines of Joachim crashing, and an Allied boat or something being near his position. My muse kind of ran away on me.
