What Army will Your Character Serve Beneath?
Nazi Germany
Character History:
Ulrich was born in Nuremburg, Germany in 1920. His father; Klaus was a decorated World War One veteran who had lost an eye in Verdun and his mother was a nurse at the local hospital. As a young boy, his father would tell him stories of the Great War and the many battles in which he had been apart of. These stories had both inspired and occasionally frightened the young boy.
Most of Ulrich's young life in Nuremburg consisted of watching the future Fuhrer give speeches, this mesmerized the young Ulrich and inspired him to go into service to his country as early as he could. As the Nazis distributed propaganda, Ulrich would become inspired by the nationalist fliers and posters, and infuriated at the Jewish community when he read the anti-Semantic propaganda. He was a devoted follower of Hitler.
Eventually after much chiding from his father, Ulrich joined the Hitler Youth or Hitler-Jugend. During these years he became brain washed by the propaganda and lies the Nazis spread, he reported his father for chiding him about his membership, and three days later he was taken away. The pride for himself and his country was far greater than his love for his father, a result of the Hitler Youth's attempts at brain washing the young minds of the German population.
By 1938, Ulrich signed up for the Wehrmacht. He went through the rigorous boot camp and completed his training well. He had shot Expert with the Mauser Karbine 98k. He was assigned rifleman with the Heer.
On September 9th, by order of the Nazi High Command, Ulrich's unit was assigned to help detain the Jewish population in Berlin as part of Krisallnacht. During the pogrom, Ulrich shot a young Jewish man in a jewelry shop who attempted to hit him with a metal pole. He also helped beat and detain hundreds more.
Nearly a year later, Ulrich's unit was assigned to the Invasion of Poland. During the campaign, Ulrich saw his first taste of war. He had won twol medals during the campaign. One medal was for a bullet wound to the arm at Mokra, and he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class for destroying a Polish mortar pit with a single grenade.
After the Polish Campaign, Ulrich was reassigned to a unit that was preparing for the Invasion of France. He was given a rank up to Obergrefeiter. On May 10th, 1940, the invasion began. Ulrich's Division had stormed the Netherlands as a feint for the real invasion of France. After four days of hard fighting, the Dutch army surrendered and Germany took the Netherlands.
From there on Ulrich's unit occupied the Netherlands. After a few years, in 1942, Ulrich's Division was moved to the French Countryside near Normandy.

Feldwebel

Scenario: You’re alone behind enemy lines and you get the eerie feeling someone’s watching you. You’re trying to remain quiet, stay low, work your way back to the frontlines - but you can’t help but feel you’re being followed… (How does your character React? What’s running through their mind?)
Ulrich had been separated from his platoon after running into an ambush. They had taken heavy losses, but eventually fought off the enemy soldiers, he was now stuck behind enemy lines wandering back to the front. He walked with his Karbine 98k in his hand. The gun was cocked and ready for action.
Suddenly, the Feldwebel felt like someone was watching him. As he stepped through the calm forest, he could feel the eyes of an enemy soldier burning into the back of his head. He did not want to die here if that was the case, it would be far from his allies, and they might never find his body. His eyes began to shift from left to right, Ulrich's ears were focused on what was around him.
Ulrich's breathing began to quicken and sweat beads formed on his forehead. The hair on the back of his neck was on end and palms began sweating. The Wehrmacht soldier knew who ever it was had the catch on him and could kill him at any moment. He took a deep breath and stopped, closing his eyes.
Just kill me now, I can't take this anymore...
That was his thought as prepared to hear the crack of a gunshot and the blackness of death he had seen many others go to in Poland and France, this was it and he accepted that.
