Hey guys.
While surfing through the net yesterday, I discovered a game, that I never heard of before. Maybe it'll be an old hat for some people here, but some of you might be interested as well. It's called "Combat Mission: Afrika Korps".
The graphics are really crappy, but the simulation- part is the best I've ever seen in a computer game. For example: -No more stupid health bars for tanks. Either a round penetrates the armour or it doesn't. If so, either the tank gets damaged or not. -Absolutely stunning amount of nations and units -The game even contains a highly complex morale system. If you order a unit to do a suicidal ambush, they probably won't do so.
So, enough propaganda for the moment, Here you can get some additional infos about the game ->http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=44&Itemid=83
And here you can download the English demo ->http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=50&Itemid=89
Believe me, it's more than worth a try.

That seems like a very promising game, I'm downloading the demo right now. I'm such an old-school gamer I don't really care much for graphics, I still like games such as Steel Panthers. ;D

Omg, Steel Panthers, that's what I call a real classic.
If you like that game, CM:DAK is going to be exactly the right thing for you. Yesterday, I had a absolute blast when playing the "Defensive line" scenario on the German side. One single Pak 38, that was placed well hidden in the flank of the enemy, destroyed: -1 M8 Greyhound -2 Stuart tanks -2 M4A1 Shermans -and 1 M10 Wolverine Well, that's definetly a guy for the "Hall of Fame".
But therefor my StuH42 got shot into pieces by the Shermans after the 3rd turn .

That's the thing about computer games. When you go back and comb through the classics, sure the graphics are outdated, but some are still an absolute joy to play. Better yet, you can find them at ridiculously cheap prices on online auction sites like eBay whereas they would've costed a good few pounds/dollars/fair amount of your country's currency years before. When all else fails, it helps to go and find some of the oldies you hear about, and give them a whirl.
Graphics a good game does not make. Sure, it's easier on the eyes, but a game can have the most stunning artwork, and be a piece of absolute manure to play.
