Infantry Unit Guide
[/b][/center]The following is a run-down of what to expect from each infantry unit purchasable from the shop. Each unit has it’s strengths and weaknesses, hopefully this thread will help you deter what units suit your needs best during combat.
Commonwealth Unit Guide:
(Australian / British / Irish / Canadian / Etc..)
(Australian / British / Irish / Canadian / Etc..)
Commonwealth Infantryman (Private)
The Commonwealth infantryman is the standard soldier of his & her’s majesty’s army and can provide a good means of fire support on the battlefield with their Lee-Enfield SMLE bolt action rifles. These soldiers also come with cigarettes, that enable them to raise their morale during battle quite easily.
Equipment:
- Lee Enfield SMLE Rifle
- Cigarettes
- Standard Infantry Kit // Standard Bayonet.
Commonwealth Corporal
The Commonwealth Corporal is an experienced unit and can offer a small morale boost amongst troops surrounding it. Equipped with the Lee-Enfield Rifle, this unit can also offer a good means of fire support; Unlike the normal infantryman, the Corporals are more accurate with their rifles and sustain a higher pain barrier than most normal infantryman
Equipment:
- Lee-Enfield SMLE Rifle
- Cigarettes
- Standard Infantry Kit // Standard Bayonet.
Commonwealth Sergeant
The Commonwealth Sergeant is the most experienced infantryman unit (to date) the Commonwealth can purchase to command. These units come equipped with the versatile Sten SMG and are capable of commanding a whole platoon of men efficiently. These Sergeants also raise morale greatly, higher than the corporal and perform excellently during close combat with their SMGs.
Fuelled with the highest pain barrier an infantryman can get, they are also harder to kill to a degree and more accurate with their weaponry than most other infantryman. Although, the Sten SMG doesn’t require much of an aim with it’s shorter range and so it’s wiser to purchase Corporals for the more accurate longer shots you wish to make.
Equipment:
- Sten SMG
- Cigarettes
- Standard Infantry Kit // Standard Bayonet.
Commonwealth Sniper
The Commonwealth sniper is equipped with the Lee-Enfield rifle (scoped) and comes bearing the detailed camouflage that strengthens their concealment within foliage and Desert terrains, but not as good in winter and urban climate terrains.
Skilled to take that “one shot”, these marksmen are best used at medium to far ranges and can be compromised within close ranges if not careful. They don’t have a magnificent pain barrier and neither are they very experienced for close range combat, so it’s wise to keep these bad-boys at a good distance from the enemy if you wish to use their full expertise to the limit.
Equipment:
- Lee-Enfield (Scoped).
- Heavier uniform, due to the camouflage. (Foliage & Desert terrain)
- Cigarettes
- Standard Infantry Kit // Standard Bayonet.
Commonwealth Engineers [3]
The Commonwealth Engineers can perform arduous tasks on pieces of machinery in the battlefield; Whether it be attempting to repair a vehicle or even un-jam someone’s weapon, these guys play a very important role for mechanized units and even columns of infantry with heavy gunnery that could become jammed or broken.
The engineers also come equipped with a webley revolver side-arm, making them weak fighters, but in reality, these guys weren’t trained to fight - right? So with three engineers capable of repairing a vehicle all at once, these guys are extremely worth the money, as to opposed buying a single engineer for instance. Making these units very skilled in the profession they perform on the battlefield.
So being able to purchase these guys altogether, make them the best engineers you can purchase out of all the nationalities, as they’re capable of working as a team on one set task and performing errands any engineer would have performed given the order. Sure, they don’t carry rifles or machineguns, but if all three of these engineers were to hold one set piece of ground, they could still put up a real good fight if need be. Three revolvers against a few rifles, would be a fair fight in any close engagement.
Equipment (of each engineer):
- Webley Revolver
- Tools & Spare parts.
- Standard Infantry Kit // Standard Bayonet.
Commonwealth Radiomen [2]
The Commonwealth Radiomen are the standard communication unit of the Commonwealth forces, capable of communicating in and out of battle with third party members; These third party members span from one additional member who could be called in as reinforcements or NPC Controlled artillery units on the outskirts of the battle.
So, these units main role as support, are;
- Enables the member to call in one member orientated reinforcement.
- Enables the member to call in artillery strikes, every seven posts.
These units are equipped with the webley revolver each and share one radio-set between them; Ironically, this makes these radiomen, arguably the best radiomen you could purchase from each nationality, as both of the radiomen units are trained units, allowing them both to perform communication tasks with the radio-set. So should one perish, there is another radioman to take it’s place. Also, as both men share one radio-set, they can move somewhat faster across the battlefield, as both men are capable of supporting the one piece of radio equipment together; Whether it be taking turns in wearing it or duel carrying it everywhere they went.
So overall, these radiomen are far less firepower supported than most radiomen, but working as a team, they’re capable of helping one another and covering one another’s backs during battle.
Equipment (of each unit):
- Webley Revolver
- Radio Equipment (share this between them both)
- Standard Infantry Kit // Standard Bayonet.
SAS: Light Assault Unit (Start at Private)
This unit isn’t one of the most spectacular units added to the shop and could be considered pretty pointless, but you’d be surprised just at how effective these units can be. With no apparent heavy gear and the capabilities of rushing between obstacles on the field or even using the hit and run tactics of the notorious SAS; This units will be a massive thorn within the Nazis’ side.
These units are equipped with the jungle carbine, a very light piece of equipment and can be bought for a slim 5CP; So overall, these units could be considered a glorified infantry unit, but with the key of speed upon their side. They’re more than capable of reacting to situations faster than ordinary infantry and have been trained to use speed to their advantage, being light crack troops.
Equipment:
- Jungle Carbine
- Combat Knife
- Cigarettes
- no side-arm
- no standard infantry gear
SAS: Heavy Assault Unit (Start at Corporal)
This unit is slightly opposite to the SAS: Light Assault Unit. Better equipped and more experienced, this unit could be considered amongst the elite infantry units of the Commonwealth. Using the infamous hit and run tactics, these guys can cause quite a stir to the enemy…
Equipped with the Bren-LMG (not shown in picture) and the Browning high-power side-arm, these guys are fierce and versatile on the battlefield, due to the fact, they still carry no standard infantry gear! They’re simply called Heavy Assault Units because of the heavier weaponry they carry, but remarkably, these units are still quick enough to move on the battlefield with ease. Whereas normal infantry units would be slightly more weighed down, even with carrying a LMG.
So these guys are particularly elite and experienced to begin with.
Equipment:
- Bren LMG
- Browning High-Power
- Cigarettes
- Standard Bayonet
- No standard infantry kit.
