OOC: The big red Line is a grenade. This post may need to be read carefully. img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aidenbattle.png
Lieutenant Jacka watched as the enemy made a suicidal charge across the river. Why the hell weren't his men up on the second floor of the pub returning fire. He looked up to the second floor and he sighted the Corporal staring down at him. Jacka signaled that the Corporal and Private Roden who was also on the second floor should provide covering fire on his command.
The Corporal began to get ready to provide accurate suppression fire. He crouched down behind the sandbags at the window and rested the barrel of his Lee-Enfield on the sandbags. Now that he no longer needed to grip the barrel his left hand supported the rifles stock. He glanced to his left to see the Private doing the same. The two men shut one eye and lifted the iron sight to their open eye. Jacka turned to the Private at his side.
"Private, use the smoke as cover to get closer then lob this grenade at the enemy on the right. Then get your arse back here as soon as possible and get ready for a counter attack from the West. Good hunting. Wait for my signal."whispered Jacka while carefully handing the Private a grenade.
The Private leaned his rifle against the sandbag wall and left it there. He didn't want any extra weight while he carried out this order. He got down prone and awaited Jacka's signal. Jacka crawled into position at the Northern end of the sandbags. He rolled over onto his back and signaled for the men on the second floor of the pub to open fire.
The corporal and the Private beside him simultaneously opened fire sending one well aimed shot each towards the enemy leader. He was mostly in cover behind a tree but there was no harm in trying to hit him. They proceeded to fire another three shots each towards the same target taking care to stay in the cover of the sandbags.
Following the second duo of shots Jacka signaled for the Private with the grenade to commence his attack. Then Jacka quickly moved up into a crouched position and aimed his carbine towards the enemy's who took cover behind a wooden boat. At first he swiftly fired a volley of four shots towards theses enemy's and after a brief interval to re adjust his aim he proceeded to fire another volley.
Meanwhile...As Jacka gave him the signal the Private leapt over the sandbags and sprinted into position behind the smoke. He held his position there for a few seconds before removing the pin of the grenade. Jacka stopped firing and threw himself down behind the sandbags and the men in the pub began firing quickly towards the German soldiers behind th boat. After cooking the grenade for two seconds the Private rushed out from behind the smoke. He held his left arm out in front of his and his right arm swung upwards in an arc before releasing the grenade into the air. By the time the grenade had left his hand the fuse only had one more second before detonating the charge.
Before the grenade had even reached the ground the Private had dived back behind the smoke screen. He hit the deck and waited for two seconds. Then he leapt to his feet and threw himself back over the sandbags and into safety. Jacka reloaded before standing up and looking around for survivors. If he saw any he would finish them. The men in the pub searched the area for the rest of the enemy force.
"Careful lads that ain't the last of em"shouted Jacka.
