Rules Of The Site
[/u]LAST REVISED: 05/03/09[/center]
Basic Rules[/u]
- Excessive foul language is not permitted on the boards, whether they are IC (in character) or OOC (Out of Character). There are hundreds of other words in the English vocabulary, which leaves you plenty of room to use expletives sparingly.
- Racist remarks OOC (Out of Character) are not permitted; the staff of this site take that very seriously. An immediate ban will be handed out to whoever makes such remarks.
- Your character may have a racist attitude; at this point in history, racial tensions ran high. However, this is the only exception. Step out of character with the remarks and expect a reprimand - you have been warned. - You may not attack the members of this board with real-life threats. Making threats to another person is considered a crime, and the staff here care for the safety of all members. If there is an argument, you have a chance to apologize and make up for anything hurtful or frightening you may post. Otherwise, bans/warnings will be issued
[/li][li]Sarcasm and smart-aleck attitudes are best left at the door. Large amounts of sarcasm on your part will result in a warning.
[/li][li]Advertising on the boards will result in an immediate ban. The boards are for roleplay and discussion, not waving your site around in the members' faces. If you want to advertise your site, use the website link box in your profile to provide a link. That's it.
[/li][li]Do not use graphic images, excessive strong language and pornographic/nude images in your signatures/avatars! The only exceptions are language and graphic images meant to be related to WWII, but seriously, have some self-restraint even then. Despite the bloody nature of war, we don't want to see the goriest scene you can find in a horror movie in a sig.
[/li][li]Respect the copyright rules of your country and the copyrights belonging to others. All images on this site belong to PuNk!, and may not be used without his prior permission. Do not use other members' submissions (their drawings, their fanfics, their characters, etc.) without asking first. Breaking this rule can result in serious consequences such as warnings and bans.
[/li][li]Finally, you must respect the Proboards Terms of Service (ToS). They are the site's host, and have expectations for those who use its services.
[/li][/ul]
All questions should be forwarded to a staff member; there is a list of them in the same box where the C-box is.
Role Play Rules[/u]
- Controlling other roleplayers' characters without permission is not allowed. It is considered rude, since you cannot always know how a character will react - the character's creator does. The only exceptions are mod-marks, the posts made by a mod in battle that help control the reactions of the men. This is to keep things fair and realistic, since not everyone has a good knowledge of what happens realistically in battle.
- We are a literate roleplay, meaning that one-liners, two-liners and semi-paragraphs are not encouraged. Here, we have a minimum of fifteen lines of full text for every post you make. When you earn Command Points from roleplay, you will notice that those that meet our minimum and go beyond will earn more then, say, a person who has shorter posts. Detail is also encouraged, but do not make every word a creative synonym; this is called "purple prose". See the the Wikipedia article on such for more information (warning: PG-13 content).
- No more then six lines of OOC text may be used in an RP post, either at the top or bottom of your post. Posts consisting entirely of OOC are also not permitted. All OOC arguments regarding a thread should be done over Private Messaging (PM), or, if you want, a thread in the Character Development area if it concerns a plot.
- The RPers of this board are to post in third person IC ONLY. The point of view can be easily misunderstood by some if you post in first or second person.
- Some threads may go beyond a PG-13 setting, which the majority of threads on IO are based around. If this happens, then you should mark your thread as "R-rated" or "Mature", or some other way to show that the thread might be adult in nature. Not everyone on IO is of the age of majority, and some just don't like roleplaying in adult threads.
Special thanks to Addie for revamping these rules; Everything written within this thread is to her standard of work and all credit awarded to her.
