What do you think about it? Do you think the Germans did a much better job than you would think they would do? Do you think the men defending places such as Bastone did their country proud? I think that the Germans planned the whole attack excellently. Sending in men to disrupt the allies behind their own lines was a stroke of genius, and they fought very well, taking huge areas of land. The allies had practically no coordination, and fought badly, losing ground in many places. Most of them just couldn't stand up to the German armour. But I thought the men at Bastone did an excellent job, holding out for ages while nearly totaly encircled. Post what you think?
I have to agree, The AXIS forces certainly did ransack the Allies train of thought, sending numerous spies behind the frontier to cut wires, turn sign posts the wrong way round (seriously), with along several other things they done. However, when caught, they did face the Execution Penalty quickly.
Bastone, i'm surprised the Paratroopers lasted as long as they did. The AXIS bombarded them with Artillery day after day. Their resource lines were cut and everything, so they frankly were on their own, how anyone came out alive from that, i truely don't know. Not just because of the German's attacking them, but the blistering cold weather too!
If the AXIS had more reserve tanks, i'm pretty sure they would've won that battle hands down. Quite Epic to say the least. Again, surprised the Allies fought through the barrier. ~Danny

The battle of the bulge was a last ditch effort by the Germans in a war that they had essentially already lost. They threw everything they had at the allied forces and created a "bulge" in the lines hence the name battle of the bulge. The reason that Bastone was so messed up for so long and the Germans did so well was because A. they pulled no punches and threw everything they had at the allies... but more importantly B. The weather was terrible, primarily the fog that hindered the allied air force to do anything... As soon as the fog cleared the fly boys were called in and the Germans were well done for. Remember when Gen. Patton demanded that the Chaplain pray to God for good weather... there was a reason for it. So really the Germans were just buying time before complete and total loss.
