Terms of Retreating
[/b][/center]I’ve realised there is a mixed opinion upon the terms of retreating and a thread was never really needed to “Explain” the terms, as this place has always had such stubborn members. People who don’t really like or want to retreat full stop.
During the early periods of this place being open, retreating was allowed during any moment of a hostile battle. Since then, moderation posts and the way we interact here, has completely changed and with that, I feel the terms of retreating has slowly changed within it’s self - I didn’t change these retreating terms, you guys did and slowly, the terms of retreating have been that way ever since.
Do you ever recall a member retreating out of their post?
For the longest time, members have assumed their retreating posts, during their round of posting. Ever since then, everyone has adapted to this scheme and assumed, in order to retreat, they would obviously make this move during their post and I quite agree. Why? Because there is one major loophole with being able to retreat whenever you wish, mainly in threads with three or more members. Those people who wish to retreat upon their own accord, get the chance to possibly double post…
These double posts could act as double hostile posts within their own right; No member is going to attempt a full-scale retreat of their units from the battlefield, without covering themselves right? So a retreating post is considered hostile within my opinion. The only difference being, you’re fighting for a difference reason now, to escape and save whatever’s left worth saving. NPC units, vehicles, yourself, quite the obvious.
So it is for this reason, I have decided to make an official thread on the terms of retreating, so everyone’s clear?
The Terms:[/b]
- If you wish to retreat, your withdrawal must be made within your turn of posting during the posting round. You may not double post or step out of the posting order, to attempt a retreat.
- Why?
You’re simply not allowed to step out of the posting order to attempt a retreat, mainly for the reason you’re capable of causing double damage within one round. This loophole could be considered a hit and run tactic. You make a hostile post, daring one perhaps, then before the enemy get to post or a few posts later (if the thread is packed with members), you suddenly pull out, to avoid any major damage. Incurring further damage to the enemy on your departure. - Now, that may sound like a silly loophole, but on a large scale that tactic could be devastating and the loophole could cause a lot of problems. Could you imagine a 2 vs. 2 thread? One of the players make a spearhead assault with fifty troops, hitting the enemy hard, trying their luck. The moderations turn out bad and not how they expected them too, now having put themselves in a bad situation and suddenly decide to pull out.
Shoving into the posting order to make their retreat, they make all their soldiers fire on the enemy positions, hoping to cover themselves, incurring any additional damage they can on the “Retreat”. Now, if you don’t consider that as another hostile post, what do you consider non-hostile? - For these reasons and the obvious loophole that could occur, the terms of retreating have been stated above. You make the move in your own turn. That way, you can make as many hostile moves as you like, whilst attempting to safely remove yourself from the battlefield.
Sound fair?
Any questions, you may post them below. Any Complaints you may not.
