Proper Use of Gear
This is just a rough guide that outlines how to use the gear in the shop effectively.
Firearms
Rifles
Rifles can be divided in to two classes.
- Bolt-action
- Semi-automatic
There are also carbine sub-classes. The bolt-action rifle is typically the most powerful and accurate weapon, due to all of the energy of the bullet being directed out the barrel. Thet accuracy comes from the fact that, as only one bullet can be fired without working the bolt, recoil isn't a problem.
Semi-automatic weapons fire rounds a lot faster, but as these weapons have similar power out of the barrel, recoil can be quite high if the magazines are emptied quickly.
Snipers Rifles, are simply rifles with a scope attatched, which magnifies items in the distance. A common misconception is that the scope increases accuracy. That could not be more wrong, it just allows you to see further.
Sub-Machine Guns
The SMG fires small, pistol cartridges, ie the .45 ACP and 9mm Parabellum. The relative low-power of these weapons, and the high speed they spit them out make these weapons good for short-range fire.
The faster the weapon fires the ammunition, the higher the recoil and inaccuracy of these weapons are. At point-blank range, this isn't a problem too much, but at long range, the weapon is as good as useless.
Handguns
Handguns are small weapons that can be carried along side a main weapon. At close ranges where your main weapon jams or runs out of ammunition, quickly drawing this can save your life.
They are designed almost entirely for short ranges, and attempts to hit targets over a few meters are probably best not even tried.
Shotguns
Shotguns can fire a range of ammunition, but they most commonly use large amounts of small pellets that can cause massive damage at short range, litereally tearing apart entire bodies.
Other ammunition includes "Solid Shot" which is basically a large lump of lead, that, well, puts holes in things.
Machine Guns
Machine Guns can also go in to two sub-categories:
- Light Machine Guns
- Heavy Machine Guns
Light Machine Guns have smaller magazine and weigh less. However, they tend to have a slightly smaller effective range. They can be carried and used by a lone soldier, increasing fire power at a squad level.
Heavy Machine Guns are a lot larger, but they can pu a lot more fire down. Water-cooled barrels stop them over heating, and heavy duty tripods can keep them firing for long periods of time.
Assault Rifles
An Assault Rifle shoots quite large calibre bullets fully automatic, or in bursts, and are one of the most versatile weapons available.

Other Weapons
Grenades
The Allies and the Axis forces both have very different grenades.
The Allied grenade is about a hundred grams lighter and easier to throw, as well as being harder to notice on the ground, and a bit harder to pick up. The grenade is armed when the pin is removed, and the handle is allowed to spring upwards. It will then detonate after five seconds.
The Axis Steilhandgrenate is basically a metal cylinder on a stick. To arm this grenade, the bottom of the stick is pulled off and a porcelein ball pulled to start the five second fuse. The grenade has another, less obvious use. In emergency situations, they make good clubs.
Knives & Bayonets
There are two types of knife on Issuing Orders. The issue knife, which is a smaller weapon, and isn't quite as deadly. The second, the Fairburn Sykes is larger and very deadly.
Both of these blades can be used as bayonets. As a general rule of thumb, only rifles and carbines can have bayonets attacthed to them, but it varies from weapon to weapon. check before using.
Units
Each of the different nationalities have their own bonuses, and weapons. More details can be found here
NCOs
NCOs, or Non-Commissioned Officers that can be purchased are Sergeants and Corporals. They fight better than Privates, but they shouldn't be the backbone of a force. Using NCOs to lead squads of Privates increases the morale of the soldiers, and has them fight better.
