3ID training exercise:
Welcome to the 3ID training exercise/Wargame. Let’s get straight to the point: you will be fighting against each other in two teams. Each team has exactly 32 men; 2 members, 25 Privates, 3 Corporals and a 2 man 30. cal team. Each team will have the normal equipment (It ain’t an epic battle) for NPC soldiers and members may use the items and weaponry that they already have. However, if you use a one use item in this thread, you will still have it on the rest of the site.
We aren’t using any particular soldiers in this fight; you can name them after your own men in the Division if you want, but it won’t make a difference, there won’t be any NPC promotions or anything. In the game we are using live ammunition, so there will be blood and gore and all that, but it won’t affect you on the rest of the site.
Here is a map showing the objectives for each side: i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg38/DementedDan/3IDobj-1.jpg The large green and blue squares that are coloured dark are the objectives for each side. Objectives: Green team: 1: Green Team high command see’s this large three storey hotel as an excellent Battalion HQ. The Problem? It has to be captured first. 2. Clear all Blue team forces out of the immediate area (AKA, the map).
Blue Team: 1. A small shop near the top of the map has been converted into a small ammunition dump. Defend it with your life, but beware: it just takes a few bullets for the whole thing to go up. Green team forces on the ground don’t know that it’s there and won’t be able to tell unless they walk inside the building. 2. Defend the town hall.
The lighter coloured Blue and Green boxes are where the units for the two teams can be placed to start off. As you may have noticed, the defending team has a much bigger area that its troops can start off in.
About the map: The brown line connecting two buildings near the centre of the map is a plank of wood extended on the 2nd floor of two buildings. It’s possible to walk across this, but be careful as it can easily break or you could fall off. There was a viscous tank battle in the area a few days before and there are many destroyed tanks littered around the place. These may become a nuisance when trying to navigate around the streets. The brown objects in the hotel are just tables and chairs; I don’t know why IO put them in. Each building is the same on the upstairs as downstairs in terms of windows and rooms. Every building that has a stairs is a two storey except for the hotel and town hall, which are three storeys. And by two stories I mean there is a ground floor and a 1st floor.
I’m posting this here to give you all a chance to discuss strategies and ask any questions (I can be very confusing). You can also request that certain parts of the map be changed.

Which one is the town hall, and which is the hotel? If they need to capture the hotel, then why are we defending the town hall?

Might I make a request? I was thinking that if we were to divide each side, not counting the 2 man MG team, into 3 sections of 10 it would work well. The only problem being that if I took one and Mac led one that would leave one with only a corporal. Might I request that the sides be remodeled to:
32 men; 2 members, 24 Privates, 3 Corporals, 1 Sergeant and a 2 man 30. cal team?
I am not stuck on it but it would be a thought seeing as that the British army at least used 10 men sections (The US using 12 men squads.)

I was kinda being considerate to Owen, by making the highest units Corporals. I want everyone to gain some experience from this and it might be harder for Owen if an NPC is higher than him. But, I'll leave it up to Owen to decide. If he doesn't mind, I'll add in a Sergeant.

Ahh right, duh, sorry. I never considered that. Anyways, he could be the exception and lead the one section with the sergeant one and Ballard one if he wants, but no biggie.

As to reply to everything at once: Okay Dan, I was making sure, but what about the second question? Also, I would be okay with having Sergeants.

Your second question, Owen: Meh, I just felt like it being different. Objectives probably wouldn't have been the same in real life. And don't forget that their second objective is to clear the surrounding area of enemy troops. That means they have to go looking for you.
OK, is everyone OK to start? We'll have the NPC Sergeants.

I'm okay with starting, but I haven't gotten any reply to the pm that I sent Ballard about strategy, so I don't know about him.

Are we starting this anytime soon, or should I join a different battle thread?
