Alright guys, I'm about to list the following terms once again in breif, so it saves you having to read through a couple of pages worth of gibberish.

~ Remember, I need to go over the map entirely, making sure people's line of sights are varified for and all the actions made. As well as possibly making two maps on my own behalf per' mod-mark. So please reframe from pestering me, I will try my best to be quick.

[/li][li] If you recieve any confidential mod-marks (these will be sent to all parties upon that side recieveing the bad news of behind line casualties) you may use that map for your next performance of actions. Remember, the map is always sent to me privately, so no one will see your secret casualties - if any are taken.

There may be dozens of different maps by the end of this thread (let alone per' post), so forgive me again for any long periods of time I may take to make a mod-mark and remember to name your forwarded maps to me by Allied/Axis Assault #1 / #2 / #3 - etc regarding which round we're in.

The crisp air brought life to the captain’s face as he looked through his binoculars across the land in front of him from the half-track. There was no sign of the enemy. His men were busy in the car park filling bottles with petrol from the petrol tank to the rear. They began stuffing rags into the tops and put them in the gas mask container, keeping them safe from the elements. Hartwig took a deep breath and smelled the air. It smelled like a hard and bloody day; he was sure it would be. He had been sent on a suicide mission to protect a base of little meaning in front of the Siegfried Line. He weapon was lighter to him now with his experience and energy. After a long rest, he was now ready for anything. Anything.

The half-track moved out of the car park and into the road to unload the artillery piece it carried and set it down between some trees where it had an open shot toward the east. Kriegheld smiled as the men got off and surrounded the gun behind the trees and took their positions, waiting for the right moment. One of the men had handed the captain a Molotov cocktail when he got on the half-track. The officer had tucked it away in his gasmask canister and kept his lighter in his front right pocket. He felt the life of war come back into him. He knew that people could not live without war and could not be the people they truly are without it.

His sergeant had stayed one of the buildings surrounding the parking lot and his corporal stood outside one of the buildings as well with some of the men pooled in the car park. One of the engineers was in Kriegheld’s half-track that he was now getting out of to stand near the trees and give direct command. The rockets on the half-track glinted, like smiling teeth, as the sun shone on them. They were ready to tear into the body of some unsuspecting tank that came along. The backs were shielded so as to prevent those in the half-track from being burnt by the rocket backfire when they were shot.

Hartwig took his rifle down and kept his finger near the trigger. The Americans would eat a mouthful of lead before they got anywhere near the German captain. Soon enough, Strumfelder would be set up and artillery support would very much be the rule. Now all the men had their rifles out and ready. The half-track was in place on the street near the hedge and all things were ready for the battle to come.

Strumfelder was well wrapped, in his large fur coat, and a Soviet hat he had acquired while on the ostfront. Over the top of all that was his smock, which proved to be good camouflage in these conditions, covered with a mixture of beige, green, brown and black. He was lying prone, on flat concrete which he had cleared to make more comfortable. A small mound of rubble in front of him helped his body to disappear when he wanted it to. He was far up above the ground, and it had taken clambering to get here, but it was worth it for the view he was seeing. He could observe almost all of the German positions, though the wooded area proved troublesome. He could see the hedge and beyond it, where thick smoke was rising from a burning building.

His men had arrived before Mr Kriegheld’s, who was just setting up now. There were tactics which had been used and set up, and the battle plan was clear. They had extreme fire power, and he would happily level the area aft of the hedge. These were Americans coming to fight them apparently. Overweight capitalist pigs, constantly stuffing down another cake, and who barely knew the dangerous end of the rifle to the safe one. Strumfelder smiled to himself. The Allies could do what they want, but when they can’t find anywhere to hide in their own area for fear of artillery, and can’t advance forward, the only way is back. And if they wanted to attack from the skies, let them. That problem had already been dealt with.

Strumfelder had given his large MG to his Corporal, who could cover the area better than himself. He also had grenades, among other weapons. His halftrack was set up to bombard the enemy, but which could also escape. He’d set up two men in a position which was almost suicide, but those two men could inflict a hell of a lot of Allied casualties. A small price for a big gain.

From where the officer was looking, he could see the grid like roads across the green wall of brambles and sturdy trunks. He could now understand why Normandy had been such a tough battle. Halftracks and tanks couldn’t smash through the things, and shells did little. Only explosives worked, or painstakingly cutting through them. The holes in the hedges looked to have been explosive.

Strumfelder smiled, as his men set themselves up. This would be an easy victory.

The bright red flag flapped above Hans. With the imposing swastika and iron cross, he thought it represented the Third Reich's military well. But Hans' mind snapped back to the task at hand as a private said "Feldweble, hier ist ein Cocktail. Ich denke, wir sollten Bord der Hälfte Track jetzt an, Sir." Hans thanked the private and then hopped up onto the half track as it pulled out of the car park.

Suicide mission. At least thats what Hans had heard. He didn't care anyway, he had been on several "suicide" missions before, but he had survived all of them. The Americans were cake. They were lazy and heavy drinkers. Compared to what Hans had been through on the Ostfront, fighting Americans was like a well earned vacation.

The half track rumbled out of the car park, towing the artillery behind it. Hans didn't care much about artillery, he was a infantryman at heart. The vehicle parked on the road and several soldiers got out and detached the artillery piece. Hans tucked the the Molotov Cocktail into his gas mask canister and checked his left breast pocket for his lighter. It was there.

Hans unshouldered his G43 and unsheathed his bayonet with a satisfying shrink. He slid it onto the muzzle of his semi automatic rifle and then loaded a fresh clip into it. He looked down the iron sights to check that were properly aligned, and then stood at ease. The Americans will be dead by the time the sun set.

Patterson Watched from his perch atop the vehicle as his men marched along in the convoy toward the small town. Intelligence showed that there was a small German outpost there and that a large force had recently been mobilized and seemed that they were headed for the location as well. Patterson still didn’t know why he or his unit were picked for the task, they were still relatively new but he figured it was high time they cut their teeth on this war. They all trudged along the road in a staggered column, the armor keeping a slow pace so as to not leave everyone behind.

”McMillan, we have been over this too many times, I apologize, but you know your job, too well maybe, I know you won’t let me down.” Patterson stated to his senior most NCO. It was too true, Patterson had been nervous about this whole maneuver for about a month now and probably called enough briefings on it to have some men consider treason, but he hoped it would all pay off. There had been training courses, classroom work, practical exercises, and anything the NCO’s thought up that could help he approved on the spot. They were as ready as they could be and no matter what happened Patterson knew that he could not have possibly come more prepared.

Might as well have a go a cadence, not the most tactical idea, but we can see for moles almost, right up to the edge of the town. Heck it was broad daylight and they were in the wide open, not the best of places, but the soggy terrain just couldn’t support the weight.

”Listen up men!” Patterson yelled out to them as they moved along their path slowly. Least it could lift a few spirits.

Patterson had had a big smile on his face since halfway through the first verse, as he looked around while they sang, almost every face seemed to share his emotion. It was a rare day when Patterson pulled such a stunt and he wanted to keep it that way, the rarer something is the more valuable it becomes. By the end of the day he was hoping you could get spilled German blood cheaper than a single cigarette.


OOC: PuNk! I'm at work atm, but I will get my map together tonight and send it to you as it is a difficult task while I'm on duty.

[MSG. Steven J. McMillan]

Master Sergeant McMillan plucked the Marlboro cigarette from off his moist lips, exhaling a large plume of smoke from beneath his helmet as he silently observed their moving column of infantry. Even more silently, he recalled their faces as they passed on by, hoping to see a few familiar ones up front, when things became a little heated during the line of fire. Flicking the ash from off his cigarette, he took another winded suck against the tobacco stick and continued to walk alongside the uneven column casually marching along, conserving their energy for the fight up ahead. The day would be long, unforgiving, but the conclusion will decide their fate or glory and Steven didn’t question their demise, within his mind, victory had already been taken…

Noticing Captain Patterson, Master Sergeant McMillan drew to a slow pace and approached the officer before him, settled atop of his vehicle. Respectfully taking the cigarette from out of his mouth to squash beneath the sole of his tightly strapped boot, Steven soon removed his helmet to cradle beneath his left arm, facing the officer. “Captain Patterson, Sir!” Steven straightened up, giving a firm salute, before grinning widely to drop his hand down from the salute and resume a more relaxed stature, knowing full damn well this wasn’t the time nor’ the place to share ballroom honours. “Yes Sir, I know the drill” he said confidentially afterwards, winking. “I’ll be sure to bring you back a souvenir from the front, Captain” he said with a overly confident tone, hoping he could subdue Captain Patterson’s nerves, by having a little faith in him.

Without waiting for a response, Master Sergeant McMillan gave a quick nod and turned to accompany the men moving up front slowly; By now, Captain Patterson started to chant out a tune and almost instantly, the boys surrounding him attuned their vocals to join in. Steven grinned to himself and laughed beneath his breath a little, as he hoped the spirits could only get higher by the end of the day.

Noticing Sergeant Miller through a gap between the men, he yelled out to him quickly. “MILLER!” he voiced out ruggedly, causing a few heads to turn, but Sergeant Miller got the message and stopped walking, waiting as Master Sergeant McMillan came trotting up from behind. “Change of plan, you’re with me today and Sergeant Marshall’s got his orders” he stated swiftly, tapping Sergeant Miller on the arm as he pointed off towards one of the vehicles. “Grab enough men to outfit that vehicle, then come pick me up further down!” Steven ordered, causing the Sergeant to act without question, as he sprinted off to do his bidding, grabbing at a few soldiers along the way.

Biting his lower lip, Master Sergeant McMillan turned to begin running along with the column of men, who now began to obtain a more cautious stance, manning their weaponry to move down along the stretch of battlefield. “Keep Moving! Keep Moving! Stick with your platoon leaders and haul ass!” the Master Sergeant yelled out, beginning to get his fighting face on. Further down, another voice yelled out from amongst the crowd, as good old Sergeant Marshall rallied up his platoon and got the men into shape. A few nervous faces immediately being put at ease, as Sergeant Marshall lead them onwards; Then came the deafening roar as Sergeant Miller pulled up alongside him. “Anytime today Sergeant”[/I] he said cockily, causing Steven to smirk, immediately climbing up into the vehicle to bark out “The operation’s in full effect, let’s move Miller” he lastly ordered, looking dead ahead as the vehicle advanced into position.

Just to clarify,
I've been over the maps of unit locations and everything seems fine. I know some units MAY have been spotted by certain unit placements (perhaps over-looking the battlefield), but due to the circumstances of this battle requiring Introductory Posts, I've taken the liberty of not revealing any potentially spotted units.

If the case had been more hardened; In a sense, someone placed their units directly into someone's line of sights, I would have shown these fatal moves and more than likely, modded some fire made. Thankfully, that hasn't occured and I've managed to keep to the Premium Battle Host's wishes of Introductory Posts.

48hr Warning![/b]

I'm going to regret doing this, but what seemed to be three days, has turned into eight days so far. I'm giving you another two full days, 48hrs, then I'm going to have to press on and ask for the next person in line to post.

I'm extremely sorry Kriegheld, but this battle is truly taking forever to start up and I'm kinda' growing a little impatient. I've remembered a lot of unit locations, so I wouldn't need to look at the maps, but since that's fading out of my mind, I'm more prone to make mistakes the longer you or anyone else takes to post. That in turn, makes my life a lot harder to mod-mark a battle of this magnitude and fog of war.

You're also going against your own sing-up rules here a little, being three-days wait. Again, you have two days to comply with a post before you are skipped, I've been very reasonable in waiting and making everyone else wait. Please don't say I haven't.

I've allowed longer than the 48hr period in hope Kriegheld may return sooner, unfortunately, he hasn't and Captain Patterson you may proceed to post. If Kriegheld does not return by the second round of posting, I would highly advise the Axis to attempt calling in a member orientated reinforcement to help progress the battle.

I would allow for someone else to take Kriegheld's space within this battle, if he isn't to return, but I feel that this would kill the realism for a member to magically disappear from the battle. So Kriegheld is still very much in this battle and can be mortally wounded, unless he was dragged out of the battle in later posts. Again, I would like to advise the Axis to think about calling in a replacement for their missing commander, if Kriegheld has not returned by the second round of posting.

OOC: well as no one can see anything, this isn’t going to be much of a post as we don’t know you are there Map will be along tonight PuNk!, I would shoot this firewall given the chance.

IC: Patterson peered through his binoculars down the road as he watched his men scurry about getting into position to move through the town, it had been a while since the last one and they had moved through it quite easily. They were expecting resistance sooner or later as Intel showed that they would meet an opposing force of similar size during the maneuver, that had never settled well in Patterson’s gut as that would make for one hellacious battle. He turned to Morrison, ”Gimme the headset.” and with a slight reach the soldier handed the Captain the mike. ”We know they will be meeting us shortly if what we know is correct, stay sharp and hit anything out of the ordinary, if we hit them hard from the start we may be able to finish this with the fewest casualties, no need in waiting on them to hit us. About to send some indirect fire in, see if we can’t get them out of hiding for you, stay sharp.” this was an all too eerie feeling, waiting to find an enemy, an enemy that was not small in number, was not small in support, an enemy that could in fact turn this whole operation into one big failed attempt at glory.

Patterson moved away from Morrison, holding his hand up for the man to stay where he was already positioned and climbed up to the hatch of his vehicle. ”Check the wiring once more and make sure everything is mechanically sound, should we have to lay down a rain of fire, I want to make sure we actually have the ability to do so!” There was a huge hedge row running north to south down the middle of the distraught and abandoned area, just on the other side they knew of a German outpost, but it could be abandoned as well for all they knew. None the less it was better to waste ammo, than to waste lives. ”Gimme one salvo into that outpost, you’ve got the map, put it along the southern side running east to west!” Tanner nodded as he was checking through the hydraulics on the lift. Tanner slid back into the hatch and pulled it shut. Patterson could hear a few orders bouncing around in the beast as he ran back to Morrison, ”Let’s get some better cover boy!” Morrison was already to his feet before Patterson finished and they moved out.

Patterson flagged down one of the returning carriers and they pulled along side him, popping the hatch and the driver pulled himself out and looked over to his Captain. ”Go get Diamond, move it into position, it was positioned incorrectly and I need it moved should we have to fight here I want full effectiveness out of everything we have. Move!” with a quick nod the driver vanished into the armored carrier and sped off to accomplish his task post haste. Patterson double timed back to Morrison and the pair took cover as they could hear the result of Patterson's oreder to Tanner begine sounding off in the distance. Patterson had never let go of his binoculars and kept them glued to his head as much he could, he wanted to know everything that was going on without having to wait for a runner or radio contact, but the report every once in a while when possible would be a great help.

THERE ARE NO FIRING LINES/MOVEMENT LINES EITHER. READ TEXT BELOW TO UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION THAT HAS UNFOLDED.

The following mod has been made in regards to what either side has witnessed so far, without the fog of war. So open conflicts made between both sides, will be highlighted. It is EXTREMEMLY crucial the next person in line, copies the displayed enemy units into their next post.

I don’t expect the placements to be perfect, but please try to place each unit where they were originally during this moderation post. So;

- All Dead
- All Wounded
- All spotted units (enemy units to your character)
Must all be placed onto your next map WITH your actions and please do not remove the dead on the map, if you so wish to drag any dead bodies or collect your dead during battle, you are entitled too, but whatever happens, every single unit must remain on the map. Unless specified by myself, where the units disappear from enemy sight and back into the fog of war.

Either way, please try your hardest to keep all units represented on the map. I am logging every single wounded enemy, dead enemy and etc… So hopefully by the end of this battle, I will be able to tally up all the units on the map correctly. As to avoid any conflictions or lost units.

Northern Sector:[/b]
Approaching the open gap within the hedgerow simultaneously by both sides (remember, just because you posted first, doesn’t always mean you’ve allocated that position before someone else), a slight surprise attack has occurred unknowingly, as neither the Axis or the Allies spotted one another’s advance from such a close proximity.

Startled and caught unaware, the German Sergeant laying prone in the middle of the mound of dirt found himself surrounded within an instant. Attempting to crawl back, knowing if he opened fire, it would almost be suicidal, he was spotted by an Allied soldier and immediately shot at twice by an eager American soldier who reacted in fright of seeing an enemy soldier before himself. The M1 Garand’s bullets incapacitated the German Sergeant within his tracks, as both bullets sped through the soldier’s upper body (through the back, as this unit was prone).

Reacting immediately and with his field expertise, any other soldier would have been killed immediately, but the German Sergeant was just able to retaliate with one swift burst of fire from his MP40 - riddling the cocky American Soldier’s torso with pieces of lead, killing the perpetrator and his murderer where he stood. Unfortunately, the German Sergeant died almost straight after, as his body fell limp.

Due to this small outburst, both sides taking refuge against the hedgerow fell down and took cover. As both sides took cover and the firing seized, one German soldier approached the end of the hedgerow and peered out, whilst glancing to his dead NCO, in a hope the man would still be salvageable and alive. As the German soldier done so, he didn’t realise the Americans had taken up cover on the opposite of the hedgerow too, as yet another spiral of two bullets fired from an American soldier’s M1 Garand, killing the German Soldier inspecting the Allied positions almost immediately - one of the bullets speeding through the man’s skull, hitting just beneath the helmet.

** Please remember, I have ONLY highlighted the units that have been spotted by either side during this quick commotion and I may have placed the units differently. Due to their individual thinking and taking cover or otherwise - such as making a move or performing an action **

Southern Sector:[/b]

The moment the Northern sector opened fire and the first gunshots were heard on the battlefield, the Flak-gun crew immediately noticed movement through the woodlands before him, both soldiers manning the gun immediately opening fire without any further delay.

High calibre rounds sped across the terrain, kicking up chunks of dirt and splinters of wood as the bullets zapped straight through whatever objects were in their way. Bodies in the short distance fell from their feet, as the flak gun’s rounds pierced and blew holes throughout their torsos; Spores of blood spattering into the air as they knocked down whatever foes they could see in the woodlands - a few of them sprinting from out of cover, trying to avoid the flak-gun’s firing.

As the flak-gun nailed a few distant soldiers in the woodlands, a soldier caught the German gunnery team’s eyes and the direction of fire changed almost immediately, spraying bullets from across the hedgerow’s opening, killing two men laying against the dirt. One of the men did open fire before he was killed, but the bullets bounced from off the steel plating of the flakverling uselessly…

Suddenly, a piercing shot did however break through the air and one of the flak gunners were killed instantly as the bullet accurately pierced straight through the skull; The shot was so accurate, suspicions of a marksman in the field may have made the kill…

OOC: Maps will come later today guys, with the artillery’s targets.

Strumfelder heard the scream of the rockets just seconds before they tore into the outpost and halftrack Men threw themselves from the vehicle as shrapnel tore through it and smoke filled the air. Behind them, Strumfelder could hear and see muzzle flashes, and was shocked as he saw an MP40 spray bullets into the air as its owner was killed. Jonsen. Further down at the other breach, the Flakvierling opened up, scything down many men. However, one of the gunners slumped down dead in his metal chair.

A plan of action needed to be taken, and Strumfelder quickly thought about it. The American’s would soon burst through the two gaps in the hedge, and while they would be walking into killing zones, one can never let his enemy get a foot hold. The mortars would see to the large collection of men.
Next, he should use the 88 to tear apart a burning building. A heavy bombardment would cut troops and vehicles down, and hopefully destroy the building itself.
The halftrack didn’t look in a good way, and Strumfelder decided it would be best to use the rockets to rip apart the streets on the other side of the hedge. Each rocket contained 40kgs of explosive, something Strumfelder did not want to be around when it went up.
Finally, he would need to launch a counter attack later on, and not let this Americans escape. He would call upon his old friend, who was known for his ability to command armoured vehicles. The Americans might be geared up for an offensive, but if they were attacked themselves, they had nothing to defend with

He lifted his radio and spoke into it. “Eins von Ihnen Soldaten nahe den 20mm, werden die Leiche los und verteidigen Ihr Vaterland an Tod. Feuern Sie weiter hinunter den Weg, in die Bäume ab. Ihre Kanone zerreißt gerade durch das Holz. Die Mörsermannschaften machen den sofortigen Bereich von hostiles frei. Halten Sie einfach diese Gewehrzündung.” As ordered, on man ran up and tore away the body, before sitting himself down in the blood soaked seat. Rounds spat out of the gun. How the men kept their hearing was beyond Strumfelder.

Next was the mortars. He raised his binoculars and observed the two gaps in the hedgerow. The highest concentration of troops appeared to be at the northern breach, and they weren’t hugging cover as the men were at the southern breach. It would take too long to work out degrees and distances.

He listened to the pops as the rounds went flying from their tubes. With any luck, the rounds towards the trees would explode above the ground if they hit a branch, spraying shrapnel down. But even if they didn’t, the rounds would pin the men down. These Allied soldiers had come looking for a fight, and Strumfelder would make sure this is what they got.

The following moderation has been written in no particular order, but to the best of my knowledge as to how things have unfolded one-after-another in order sequence; To attempt to try and keep the realism.

Failed Commands:[/b]
This part of the moderation has been made public, as it’s obviously no secret to the orders given and saves me writing up another several mod-posts to be sent via’ PM.

~ A post has been sent to all Axis parties regarding these failed commands (why it occurred).

• Flakverling Gunner did not receive the command to take the dead soldier’s place.
  
• Halftrack did not receive the command to send rockets.
  
• Flakverling didn’t receive command to replace gunner.
  
• Blitz Truck has been unable to comply with the multiple orders right now.

Northern Sector:
The fire-fight has continued to ensue, with a few shots being made by either side. The few Axis soldiers have been suppressed greatly and are barely making a stand for themselves, as the American M1 Garands popped off rounds quickly, suppressing them behind the hedges. Out-numbered and out-gunned, the Axis soldiers huddled down tightly, clumsily reloading their weapons in the haste to try and retaliate fire in stopping the Americans from advancing onto their suspected suppressed positions.

Then, the heavens opened and sudden explosions erupted from behind the hedge they were huddled behind. The distant pops of mortars sounding off alongside the heavy gunnery fire being made by the flakverling in the distance - they were being saved!

Watching as the explosions erupted from behind the hedgerow, one of the German soldiers quickly made a run for it back towards the woodlands, becoming unnerved as the mortar rounds fell too close for comfort. Jumping too his feet, he sprinted like wild-fire across the road, successfully pulling back. The remainder of the German soldiers caught behind the hedgerow ducked down and attempted to wait the mortar-fire out, but the indirect fire had suddenly cost them both their lives…

Meanwhile, the American soldiers had scattered and taken what refuge they could, the indirect fire of the mortars being more of a burden than blessing. Unable to predict where the next mortar would land, the Americans took some casualties, but due to the close knit NCOs (before and after the mortar rounds landing), the men were still in high spirits and were thinking more logically with calmed nerves. Remaining un-suppressed and ready for the next order.

Southern Sector:
The flakverling continued to fire, the gunner slightly unnerved by the immaculate shot made upon his comrade in the adjacent seat, knowing damn well there must have been a sniper or marksman in the field before himself to make such a shot under pressure perhaps.

Continuing to man the gun alone, the flakverling began to tear down the trees, randomly shooting whatever came across it’s path, not quite knowing what to shoot or whether to stop shooting for that matter (remember, no orders have reached this unit successfully). Watching as a couple of the trees fell within the distance, the gunner merely kept pressing on, not entirely seeing whether he cut down any enemies or not - but suppressing them was all that mattered for now in his eyes.

Then came the mortar fire…
Seizing the flakverling from shooting, the Gunner panted for a breath and yelled out for someone to help him out, he was tired and manning the machinery alone was hard work; Due to the enormous sound erupting all over, no-one heard his cry for help in manning the gun.

~ The mortar fire landing behind the hedge added extra damage to the terrain, kicking up splinters and dirt, making small manhole shaped craters in the soft dirt, enough for a soldier or two to huddle into, but nothing major.

Overall, the Southern sector has not claimed many casualties, apart from two wounded American soldiers being killed by the flakverling’s rage of fire.

88 Flak Gun:
Eventually, the 88 Flak got it’s command to unleash hell, but what they didn’t expect, was hitting such a close target. Turning the weaponry around to face the North-East, they prepared to bombard the building directly ahead and received their command successfully loud and clear through their small receiver.

Adjusting the weaponry, they allowed a few seconds to pass before - FIRE!
BOOM![/I] the 88 opened up fire and began to wreak destruction. However, due to it’s cumbersome place on the map and quite obvious loud noise/muzzle flash, the weapon has been discovered and seen by the American soldiers littering the frontlines. How they didn’t see it before was anyone’s guess…

After a few rounds, the building was successfully damaged, but not brought down. Due to their close proximity of the building, a couple of the shells fired straight over the building - remarkably, landing off the map. Once they’d gained a suitable aim, the building has taken some serious damage and is almost on verge of collapsing.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM![/I]
Master Sergeant McMillan dropped to the ground, yanking down two subordinates either side of him in the process, as mortar rounds unpredictably zipped overhead, before imploding against the concrete and dirt. “Ahhhh!” cried began to suffice from the midday air, with gunshots being traded in either direction of the battlefield. It seemed the Nazis had a flak-gun set up down range towards the south, that were cutting into the men like butter figurines, but then an even bigger daddy appeared as what seemed to be a reported 88’ Flak blasting open from just behind the hedge!?

The nearby building crumpled and emitting cries sounded from inside shortly after, all hell had broken loose and the Master Sergeant couldn’t help but feel a little star-struck by how fast things had gotten nasty. “Madog! Get on that radio and report to Patterson we’ve taken casualties -- I’m sending them his way!” The Master Sergeant cried out with a hoarse tone, watching as Madog got on the blower, sending through a direct message to Captain Patterson’s position, whilst Steven climbed to his feet, attempting to get the situation back into their hands. “Myles! Logan! Get the wounded out of here - use those fucking carriers!” he bellowed out, watching as the two men grabbed a few voluntary hands along the way, hurrying the situation up quickly. Time was of the essence.

“Madog! Get Cronus up here ASAP!” he ordered again to his radio operator, before whistling out to Sergeant Miller down the line. “SEND UP SEVERAL MEN! HOLD YOUR LINE!” he cried out to his fellow Sergeant down the range, who began grouping up a bunch of men to send down to Master Sergeant McMillan’s position. Whilst shots popped off from the frontline, Steven took the moment to gather up the group of men he wanted on his position and took a knee, signalling for them all to do so in correspondence. “We’re taking that 88. No Ifs or Buts” he said firmly, unclipping a grenade to toss over to Sergeant Marshall. “As soon as we get close enough, blow any fucker off that gun. Cronus will be shielding and supporting us - all clear!?” he said briskly, everyone gave a reluctant nod, but they were ready…

Getting up, the Master Sergeant rallied over to his radio operator on the field, accompanied with the band of the man he’d assigned for the job. “Radio to the Captain, we’re taking that 88 with Cronus, do-not fire on --” dragging out his map, he looked at the scribbled coordinates and the plotting. “X358710, Y172650 -- those are the coordinates for just beyond this hedge. Tell him to try and nail that church if he can, we’ll be clear of the zone. Here keep the paper” he said firmly, handing over the piece of paper with the scribbled coordinates on, something he’d taken the time to prepare before walking onto the field, knowing he would either need them to call in a strike on that allocated position or beyond it. It made life a lot easier being somewhat prepared for the job at hand.

As the radio operator called through the message, Master Sergeant McMillan moved up to Cronus that had moved up along the field and flagged his hand out to the navigator who’d sat atop of the mean machinery awaiting some kind of instructions to come his way. “Hey! You see the 88 downrange from up there!?” -- “Just about Sarg’…”[/I] -- “Well you’ll see it soon enough, on my command, move up through the northern sector and tear it apart. You’ll be covering our advance, got it!?” -- “Aye Aye!”[/b] the cocky man replied, dropping down into the tank to relay the message to his crew. Unclipping the smoke grenade attached to his webbing, Master Sergeant McMillan cautiously approached the opening and peered out, just to get a baring of what was on the other side. Pulling the pin on the canister, he stepped well back from the hedge and launched it over towards the 88’s general direction, knowing it would buy the infantry valuable time to get close enough.

Slipping the pin into his top pocket, he kept it as a souvenir and whistled out to the band of men nervously waiting the command to go. “Give it thirty seconds to disperse. We’ll take cover behind Cronus at all times, you got it? Once we reach the 88, we can scatter for better cover. Stick with me and Marshall here at all times and you’ll be safe” after pet-talking them a little, he glanced to his field-watch and noted it’d been fifteen seconds. “CRONUS MOVE UP!” he yelled out, turning to face the mean machinery, flagging his hand out for both a audible and visual command for them to go. As the vehicle groaned passed them, flattening the debris and foliage within the wake of the mortar fire, Master Sergeant McMillan turned to his men and nodded to them, lisping out “Go-Go-Go!”. With that, the men hurried past the Master Sergeant, before he himself followed the ranks.

Suddenly, the M4 Sherman’s 75mm Gun roared into life, spitting molten-hot pieces of lead onwards, whilst the turret slowly cranked into place, almost causing an deafening explosion as it blew out a shell. Huddled behind the piece of armoury as it began to move again, Master Sergeant McMillan signalled to the men to move around “Nail the fucker!” he yelled out, as the men sped out from behind the tank, taking up quick positions, whilst Steven covered their advance with a quick pray-and-spray from his Thompson SMG, Sergeant Marshall advancing himself with a spitting from his own SMG. The fight was surely on now…

The Northern Assault:[/b]

88 Flak-Gun Siege:

• The M4 Sherman came prowling through the destroyed hedge, it’s engine and tracks wearily being heard from the German resistance nervously sheltered on the Western side of the hedge, almost awaiting for it’s inevitable arrival; However, none of the German force knew whether it would advance from the Northern frontline or Southern and with the addition of communication breakdown, hardly any eyes overseeing the field, it was a complete surprise when the tank appeared suddenly upon the frontlines.
  
  Usually, the armour came in after some tougher resistance, but remarkably, the American weren’t holding out and immediately, the M4 Sherman caused all the German soldiers on the field to shriek silently to themselves. A few wandering thoughts of running back for better cover crossed a few of the men’s minds, whilst a majority of the rest contemplated on barely moving an inch from their positions, hoping they would blend into the environment and go unseen. Their only real anti-armoured piece of support on the field was the 88 and the two artillery cadets manning it, began to yell out in sheer stress to one another, as they panicked, trying to adjust the weaponry into position to face the M4 Sherman, hoping they could shoot it before it had a chance to zero in on them.
  
  “NEIN! NEIN!” one of the artillery cadets yelled out to his comrade on the 88 gunnery, who knew they had to fire with the aim they had or jump from the gun in a bid to save themselves. Ignoring his partner, the Artillery cadet fired the weapon within it’s blind-aim and immediately felt the blood drain from his face as the shell spiralled over the tank (narrowly close) and exploded beyond the armoured vehicle’s position.
  
  Attempting to jump from the gunnery, knowing they’d wasted their loaded shell on a uncalculated aim of haste (reloading the gunnery would take-up precious time they don’t have), the two men turned their backs to the armoured vehicle and just about made one or two paces off the field-gun, when the 75-mm machinegun roared into life and spattered bullets across the 88, immediately killing the two Artillery cadets caught in mid-motion of fleeing; Spinning them from off their feet, as several sprayed pieces of lead cut them down.
  
  ~ Both Artillery cadets have been killed.
  ~ One of the wounded soldiers from the halftrack have been caught during the spraying of fire.
  
  
• The shell made towards the 88 gunnery just added insult to injury, as the projectile tore through the gunnery brutally from such a close range. Exploding on impact, the tank-shell has completely rendered the 88-Gunnery unusable, as a large hole has been blown through the base of the barrel and damaged the footholds in which the gunnery is stabilized in position upon.
  
  ~ Whether this piece of equipment lasts the test of time for this battle, it may be salvaged and a price of 30CP may be paid to repair it at the end of the battle.
  
  
• The smoke screen deployed earlier has acted well in conjunction with the current assault underway. (The expanded grey circle is the entire area dimly immersed in white/grey smoke)
  
  As the American infantry began to pour out from behind the armoured vehicle, the German Infantry was once again caught unaware, as the smoke screen and large armoured vehicle being used as a shield, completely hid any infantry resistance lingering along with the armoured vehicle.
  (Remember, the German infantry are square on the ground, looking straight. Had the terrain been uneven or raised, the American Infantry would have been spotted to an extent)
  
  As the Americans sped out form behind their cover and headed towards the nearest defence up-front of the tank, the German infantry lingering within the woodlands began to open fire as best they could. A few of the German soldiers ran from their allocated positions, attempting to get a better shot, feeling rather confident they had something they could fight now with their numbers. However, the movements and shots made by these units have given away their positions.
  
  “Hurggh!” the first sign of a casualty gurgled out amongst the shooting made from the Germans, as a young American soldier collapsed forwards during his sprint, as two immediate bullets thumped through the torso region of the male; His corpse hitting the ground hard, before he rolled to a stop. Immediately, the Americans seized the moment of their supreme firepower and began to shoot back, bullets speeding either way across the woodlands, with orders and cries being shouted out during the process.
  
  During the bout of fire being exchanged between the two closing fronts, a small resistance of German soldiers were spotted within the fuel dump, scattering off into a building a couple taking up position to help try and outflank the American advance. The two soldiers huddled down against the hot rocket-made-crater barely got off a few shots, wounding two American soldiers, before a couple of American soldiers hanging back by the tank took up position against the fence, firing several quick shots towards their position - immediately wounding one and causing his comrade to duck down and become suppressed.
  
  ~ Americans have suffered one death & two wounded from the initial assault.
  ~ Germans have suffered three deaths, two wounded from the assault. With the loss of the 88 Flak Gun.
  
  
• Flak Gunner:
  During the immediate attack, the gunner on the flak-gun remained composed and guarded the southern hole in the frontline, contemplating on turning the flak gun around to shoot at the tank and American force fast approaching.
  
  Nervously not knowing what to do… (big lack of communication fore playing this outcome)
  
  Whether he should abandon the gun, turn it around to fire else where or just sit there guarding the southern opening, he began to panic and decided to attempt turning the flak-gun around to shoot at the advancing American party. No sooner had he made his mind up, another well placed shot came from out of the blue and hit the soldier square in the face (across the ridge of the nose, slightly lower than between the eyes,) instantly killing him, before he had the chance to reposition the gun.
  
  ~ Another German Death.

Notes:
Although this battle is fast becoming orientated for the Americans, the Germans can still pull this back. With large holes appearing in the German defences and hardly a means of communication to keep everyone in line, the German resistance is weak, but in great numbers - which is the only real saviour of theirs right now.

This may seem like a shock, but having looked over the entire battle and calculated things on a fair scale, I would like to advise the Axis to retreat, as one final push from the Americans could have the Germans facing an unsuccessful retreat altogether (heavy loss of manpower and possible equipment that may take a posting round to get into shape for a fair retreat). Also, with the scales now tipping a fair 2 vs. 2 (von speckle hasn’t been ruled out yet), the Allies have also nailed their communication techniques and hold a very firm position within this battle.

I can not stress to the Axis forces enough, that this may be their only chance to make a full scale successful retreat, with very slim casualties occurring in the process. The Axis can pull this battle back, but right now, I don’t see this happening and any means of stubbornness displayed, could cost the Axis a lot of heavy casualties in forthcoming rounds made by the Allies (I have a rough estimate and predication of what to expect; Knowing all the units, vehicles and items being used during this battle).

So again, I strongly advise the Axis to contemplate a retreat, that would undoubtedly save a lot of lives. The frontlines have been breached, the Americans have penetrated very weak defences made by the Axis in one single post and frankly - The Axis must heed my warning now. I can not guarantee member safety after this moderation post.
