I have a military background so I figured that I would put this up because there is a possibility that I or others might use these. Mainly to answer questions people might have about them. Feel free to add to it, God knows I don't know anywhere near all of them. I won't put some in because we wouldn't be using them here.
AA - Area of Advance
AAA - Anti Aircraft Artillery
AAR - After Action Review
AC - Advancement Corridor
AIT - Advanced Individual Training
AO - Area of Operation
AP - Anti Personnel/Armor piercing
APC - Armored Personnel Carrier
AT - Anti Tank
BCM - Basic Combat Marksmanship
BCT - Basic Combat Training
Click - One (1) Kilometer
CQC - Close Quarters Combat
DA - Department of the Army
DAF - Department of the Air Force
DN - Department of the Navy
DOD - Department Of Defense
Frag-O - Fragmented Order
(usually means a change in operations)
HE - High Explosive
IA - Impact Area
(Mortars and Artillery)
LBE - Load Bearing Equipment
(usually includes a Ruck Sack also known as an Alice Pack)
LDO - Line of Duty Order
(used to request supplies and such)
LPC - Leather Personnel Carrier
(Sarcastic way of telling someone to walk)
LZ - Landing Zone
MBT - Main Battle Tank
Mil - 1/17th of a Degree
(used mainly with artillery)
MOS - Military Occupational Specialty
MSR - Main Supply Route
NCOIC - Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge
OIC - Officer in charge
PT - Physical Training
SALUTE - Size, Activity, Location, Unit, Time, and Equipment
(In reference to enemy)
SSR - Secondary Supply Route
Back Blast Area - The area behind usually an anti tank weapon
(Should be clear due to intense heat.)
Shooting Lane - The area one is assigned to watch and permitted to fire in as to not have too much cross-fire or to little cover.
Stacking - Term used when tactically getting set on a door to breach and clear
Breach - To enter a room or vehicle with a distraction, usually an explosive of some sort.
Clear - General term used for letting others know that all is safe
Challenge and Reply - Best example I have on the top of my head is from "Saving Private Ryan" When someone would yell "Thunder" (the Challenge) and would get "Flash" for a reply. It's to let them and you know you are on the same side.
