Adolf Hitler. No matter if he was 'evil' it didn't stop him from making Germany a great country what with all the autobahns and stuff. Stalin? Hmmmm...

I voted Stalin. He was able to usurp the leader of the USSR successfully and then run the nation into the fifties. He only left power when he died, which is quite an accomplishment. Stalin was also able to manipulate foreign leaders, such as Roosevelt, into supporting him, rather than the Germans, since it was a toss-up as to who the US would support before Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. Stalin was a very accomplished 'diplomat' and a good, though controlling, leader of his people.
Hitler did do many things for Germany, though any socialist leader could have done the same. Stalin was different simply for his manipulative power.
I'm not quite, sure so I haven't voted yet; However, didn't Stalin fall into Hitler's pocket? I mean, he was being hunted down and without German protection, he was nothing... So Hitler, pretty much, guarded him. Because he went into hiding almost?
I could be wrong, but I'm not really clued up with history regarding Stalin. I'm more of a English/German historian when it comes to the second world war; But I'm pretty sure, I did read up that Stalin relied on Nazi-Germany to be the backbone for him, which in turn, for me, would've made Hitler more of a better and powerful leader.
I haven't voted, yet. Want to see what you guys say. But as it stands, Hitler pretty much sums up what a headstrong leader needs to be. He had a very vivid imagination, but also a little too vivid at times. People feared him, but also adored him. I like to compare Hitler to Napoleon in a strange way, they both had the significant charm of leadership qualities and both knew the gambles/risks they'd have to take when ruling.
Hence some of the "Throwing" into battles, risking and giving lives for the Fatherland, such as Napoleon with his beloved France. Stalin, from my books, seemed more of a weasel. Deception/manipulation was his strong point.

i voted for Stalin because two of his marshals, Konev and Zhukov, place a bet and Stalin advices the bet. The bet was who can take berlin frist.
so that doesn't mean he was a good leader just that his generals was he didn't find a way to win the young of his country over heck the only reason he actully staid the leader of the USSR is becouse of the secret police witch he copied of hitler!
He never had an idea of his own he nicked other peaples he was no better than a blithering idiot!
so i vote hitler as dan said he made germany great and herevolutiunised germany bringing new ideas Hitles youth i hate the guy but Joseph stalin no way!

In a BBC documentary I watched recently, it was explained that Hitler really didn't do much. In fact, he would simply make his wishes clear, and other members of the administration of the 3rd Reich would go and carry out actions. In fact, some of Hitler closest 'friends,' if you will, said that Hitler spent more time looking at architectural drawings than he did running the country.
Hitler was also the origin of almost every major mistake the Germans made during the war. He ordered that no aircraft-carriers be built, he ordered the jet-engine Messerschmidt plane be modified for bombing rather than fighting, he attacked Stalingrad, he ordered the production of King Tiger tanks, and ordered that all military research projects lasting longer than one year be ended (the MP44 may never have come into existence without breaking this order).
Usually, good leaders win wars. They listen to their generals and take their advice. Hitler preferred to believe he was a better commander than all the experience generals and admirals. If it had not been for Hitler, Germany could have won the war. Imagine if Allied bombers could be shot down at a whim with the German jet-fighter, if the type XIV U-boat could have torpedoed any ship at any time, if the MP44 had come into production three years earlier and by 1944, every German soldier had one. Hitler, as a leader made dire mistakes and relied far too much on delegation.
He made military mistakes, social mistakes, and multiple infractions of leadership theory.

I voted hitler, but by accident. I pressed the wrong option
i think Stalin was a better leader. Sure, Hitler got Germany from the slumps and up to glory, but he was a horrible military leader. Hitler failed to see the advantage of the MP44 and he failed to react to the Normandy invasions.

And Stalin basically murdered his entire army, at least the best of it. So, whats your point?
Point is: Hitler was a brilliant political leader. Yes, even though he went about it a bit wrong. Though, as you pointed out, he was a terrible military leader. The decisions he made were poor, he held back military research, and when he stopped letting his officers do their own thinking on how to get things done he caused defeat. Still, I believe he was much better leader than Stalin.

Well, it all depends on area of analysis. Militarily, Hitler was incompetent. Politically, he was a genius.
Seeing as Stalin did basically the same thing as Hitler, but his country wasn't destroyed by a self imposed war that they then lost and Stalin didn't kill himself.
I don't understand what everyone is saying Hitler did that made Germany great? Lose wars? Cause it to be occupied by a couple of awesome countries and an evil commie one?
The only thing Hitler ever do that was good was speeches, crazy speeches that the foolish war weary people of Germany believed in.
So Stalin wins. And really, in Soviet Russia, Stalin is the only one who ever wins.

Stalin killed more people than Hitler dreamed of so Hitler was a better leader for many reasons, helped the German economy created an amazing military that could have taken the world so Hitler FTW
