EDIT: Mislabelled Extras as an American show. And added Family Guy twice. Skill.
So, a decade has passed, bringing with it lots of war, death and High School Musical. My question to you is what do you think was the best TV programme of the decade?
I've got thirty options up here - each show has recieved almost universal acclaim and, from looking over the internet, are some fairly sound nominees. All choices are either Drama, Comedy or Sci-fi (or a mix of the three) - there are no documentaries, reality shows, panel shows etc.
You can choose five options from the poll above; please place them in order in a post below. If I've left anything major out, let me know.
I've tried to get a good mix of British and American shows on the list and am fairly confident which show you guys are gonna pick as your number one choice. ;D

No!
I was making a list based on the most popular shows of the past few years, taking into consideration the member-base we have here. The fact is that the American and British film and television industries tend to produce the best quality English-language shows. I wouldn't have thought that an excellent French-language drama would really be worth putting on the list.
But if you can name a good non U.S/UK show that most of us have heard of then I'll add it to the poll.
I voted for: (Not my real favourites, but my favourite's from the list)
1: Torchwood 2: BoB 3: Doctor Who/Lost (Yes, I am one of the 5 people who still watches Lost. ;D ) 5: Futurama
Suggestions: I'm a Celebrity! Father Ted (I know it hasn't been made since the ninties, but it's still being shown!
Yeah, I thought about adding reality shows but decided against it as I'm under the impression that anyone who enjoys that kind of show either has the mental competency of a pigeon or is an eight-year old, homeless-eating Irish child.
BTW: Father Ted is without a doubt one of the best sitcoms ever to come out of the British Isles. DRINK! GIRLS! FECK!

First, dare you Rhys. How could you forget about BOTH "The Simpsons" and "Southpark". In my opinion, both programes are very important steps in the cultural evolution of humanity. ;D
And additionally, I want to bring in one German program, the one or another of you may even have seen before:
Well, that list is incomplete. The real Number One program of all time, Top Gear is not on that. And, as Werner pointed out, South Park is lacking. To make a proper list, mine would be:
1) Top Gear 2) Chuck 3) NCIS 4) South Park 5) Band Of Brothers
However, going by your selection
1) Chuck 2) Band of Brothers 3) Family Guy
... That's about all the TV I watch regularly, actually.

The Monster Hunter/Destination Truth isn't that bad of a reality show — compared to some of the other paranormal reality shows out there, they appear, in my opinion, to approach things more scientifically than others. They think of the real essentials (such as a team medic), they seem willing to debunk as much as possible, they take into account folklore and environmental factors, and more. For example, when they investigated a supposed "haunted forest" in Romania, there was a circular field that was a dead spot — it had no vegetation growing on it whatsoever. Instead of immediately assuming evil forces were at work (a lot would do that), they take soil samples in an attempt to debunk as much as possible. That level of professionalism really takes the cake, in my opinion.
Shows such as Paranormal Egypt (I'll find a good link eventually ), on the other hand, have a tendency to irritate one into banging their head on a desk quite quickly. Repeatedly. How can you gather enough proof to prove something strange is going on when all you rely on is a proven sham psychic and an easily-frightened female host? Where's the open mind for debunking? The experts who come along and can point out illusions from genuine anomalies? A few different pieces of equipment to make sure things can be looked at again and disproved? Give the skeptics a challenge already!
All that being said, if there really is nothing there and/or you're a hardcore skeptic, they're nice for a quick scare on Halloween or when you're in the dark, if nothing else.

I agree with Werner and Nathan. How could you have omitted the Simpsons, South Park and Top Gear?
I voted for Family Guy and Band of Brothers. I've seen some or a lot of the others mentioned, but many of them either go round and round in circles pointlessly (*coughLostcough*) or they're just plain boring. But that could be said for TV in general. Oh, well.

I thought I'd keep it with scripted stuff. Make it a more coherent category; obviously, Top Gear is the dog's boll*cks.
And, btw, I meant to point out in the original post that the only nominees are shows where at least half of the episodes are produced in the noughties. The Simpsons began in the eighties and, therefore, only about a third of episodes were made this decade. (And the Simpsons went downhill after about season seven anyway).
I admit, I forgot about South Park. I thought that started late eighties as well, turns out it was early nineties.
Band of Brothers - EPICNESS!!! AND Damian Lewis played the main part and HES BRITISH AND FIT!
Doctor Who - I mean, seriously ever since the 1997 crap film of Doctor Who, it was becoming a joke but Russell T.Davis really brought it back with a bang, so much so that a lot of people were extremely upset when Chris E left and even more when David T announced he was quitting, I LOVE MATT SMITH WOOO!!!
Merlin - two fit guys on TV on Saturday nights fighting CGI monsters...what more could a girl want....!! MAKING A THIRD SERIES YAY!
Spooks - Richard A was in it, HE WAS ALSO IN ROBIN HOOD! FIT...AND ITS PRETTY EXCITING
Torchwood - basically a spin off from Doctor Who with Captain (FIT BUT SADLY GAY) Jack played by John Barrowman (WHY...WHY IS HE GAY!!?? ITS UN FAIR TO WOMEN!) And I loved Ianto til they killed him off....WHY?!

(Ianto is the greatest bisexual, coffee-making Welshman the world has ever known)
Do you base the quality of everything on how hot the stars are? ;D
By the way - Doctor Who, Merlin, Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood = BBC CYMRU. Boo-ya.
I was actually a bit disappointed with Merlin tbh. Rewrote a lot of the legend (for the worse, I reckon). Hot men are all well and good but....grrr....
Yes RHYS, you are probably right, I do base any good TV series on how hot the men are:
Doctor Who - David T, Matt S Torchwood - Gereth (Ianto), John B Merlin - Colin M, Bradley J BoB - ALL Spooks - Richard A SJA - Tommy K
