Nationality: German
What Army will Your Character Serve Beneath?: German Army
Character History:
Born in 1920 and raised in the city of Munich,to two middle class parents.
Like every German family, after the Great War,life was tough for Axel and his kin.
The Versailles Treaty ,as Axel, and many Germans saw,was crippling Germany,it was meant to beat them down into submission and ensure they never stand up again.
Axel didn't have much of a childhood to speak of.
No toys,no money,no fun.
Instead he did what all children did. Worked.
He worked in factories,he worked in shops,he worked on farms, but nothing lasted.
Germany was dying, and the world didn't care.
This, along with many other reasons is why Axel knew Hitler was right. He knew Hitler would take Germany to the top once again,he knew Hitler would laugh in the face of those who threatened The Reich.
Axel worked at an iron company until 1935 when he joined the Hitler Youth.
Which his family was very proud of. "Finally,a man who people can respect in this family" he remembers his mother saying to him.
In 1942 he enlisted for service,in a Panzer division. After being assigned as a tank gunner somewhere on the Western Front,Axel said his final goodbyes to his family, and headed off to defend his beloved Reich from the evil invaders.
Military Rank:
- Obergrenadier (Private)

Scenario: You’re alone behind enemy lines and you get the eerie feeling someone’s watching you. You’re trying to remain quiet, stay low, work your way back to the frontlines - but you can’t help but feel you’re being followed… (How does your character React? What’s running through their mind?)
Cramped in a tiny alley,Axel sits on the cobblestone road, looking at a dirty folded map.
"Uhh...okay..I'm not that far now" Axel tucks the map into his pocket, grabs his helmet and plants it on his head, and stands up. Slowly he creeps out of the alleyway looking both ways before he crosses the street, just like his mother always told him.
The ground is still damp with last night's rain, and Axel sees his reflection in a puddle.
"Jesus,I'm a mess" he thinks to himself. He rubs his hand on his face to try and clear away some of the dirt, but it's useless.
He continues on,carefully stepping over the puddle as to not make any noise.
"How did I even get here?" Axel stops to remember how he found himself in this situation.
"It was just a routine patrol.I remember Walter and I were outside our tank, the rest of the crew still inside. We were placing some links on the treads, and that's about it. Next thing I know the tanks on fire and I'm laying on the ground 20 feet away. The last orders I received were to head West to camp.."
Axel took another peak at his map "Yeah...I'm definately getting close."
Axel tucked his map away once more and continued on,weary of any Allies that may be near.
His boots clopping on the road Axel worried enemies nearby would hear him.
"They probably already know I'm here, they've probably got this whole area taken over, they've probably already reached the river before me; but It's my only shot,I have to go and find out."
The sound of his boots sounding increasingly loud Axel bent down, and took his boots off, tied them together at the laces and tied them to his belt. Now silent Axel felt he could rest a bit easier.
Approaching an intersection of roads Axel took cover around a corner.
He heard someone speaking. He listened attentively. He couldn't understand the language.
His heart dropped. he held his breath. His heart pounding louder and louder.
His heart was beating so loud he began to worry the voices would hear it.
Axel peeked around the corner,in the distance he could see two men loading a truck with wooden crates.
He heard a slew of words that made no sense, but one word to him stood out.
"West" Axel knew this must mean Westen
He began to worry, did this mean that they captured the German camp and were sending resupply? Did it mean they knew where the camp was and were heading there to attack it?
The trucks engine roared to life. Axels eyes widened. It was heading in his direction. He could stay still and it would likely drive right past him,and on to the dirt road ahead.
Axel backtracked and hid behind a different building, this time ensuring he wouldn't be spotted. After the truck passed he quickly ran through the intersection, hoping nobody was looking.
Running for what seemed like days Axel finally reached wilderness. He was no longer protected from a concrete jungle, but instead a wide open field. While fastening his boots back onto his feet Axel began to worry.
Worried,Axel took some tobacco from his rations and began to smoke.
"I'm so dead. There's no way I can cross that field without being spotted.
Is it the Americans? The British? The Canadians? Does it matter? Any one of them will shoot me dead."
"Well it doesn't help to stay here." Axel flicked away his cigarette, stil largely intact.
Axel removed his helmet and attached it to his belt. Kneeling low,Axel began his traverse over the field. "The river's got to be just over there, beyond the field."
Axel swished through the grass, holding his breath. His heart pounding.
Laying prone and still every so often,Axel began to wonder if there in fact was any enemies at all.
"Who knows how long I was unconscious for after the tank exploded, they probably thought I was among the dead. I could have been out for hours, days even."
Convincing himself there was no threat Axel stood up. He was approaching a large hill.
"It should be just beyond this hill" A smile stretched from ear to ear, plopping his helmet on his head once again Axel charged up the hill. At the peak of the hill he stood still.
What he saw at the bottom was a camp of soldiers. German soldiers.
He began striding down the hill, not caring if he fell,a broken bone at this point wouldn't matter much.He was home free.
Exhausted,he fell to his knees at the mouth of the camp.
"Schließlich" he whispered under his breath as he stood up again and stepped into safety once more.
