Hey guys. I was thinking, and this is kinda half question, half suggestion. Alright, say we had another D-Day Omaha beach. Here is a question. Could we have another D-Day Omaha beach? I know it would be unrealisitic, but alot of new-comers probley like D-Day, and it would be only fair for them to be in one too. Just my thought. The other question is, say we DID have another Omaha beach? And if I ever made another US character who would gain his own company. Could he call in the whole company, meaning troops. Just a thought, but sides in Epic battles are only supplied with troops, if they dont have the men. Back to the whole Companies, I think this would only be Omaha beach, since Omaha did take whole companys? Just some thoughts. Thanks

The answer is: no. At least not for now. The staff are all very busy on the site and in RL. We are hoping to get the support staff promoted to moderators very soon and PuNk is trying to get the updates he promised us going with his return. So as of now, there will most likely be no Epic Battles for a while. Both the original Omaha Beach and the Epic Battle Campaign have wounded up as failures.
To answer some of your other questions, here it goes. The calling in of companies. You can only call another member/troops in with a radioman. The amount is usually left up to the mod. Would you be bringing an entire company in? No, most likely not. That is a bit too much for one to call into a battle and hard to actually lead.
Sorry if I left some confusion/unanswered. Its just that that paragraph was rather confusing with incomplete sentences and varying questions. But in short: no.

I think, from a new members standpoint, that it is more important to get the new updates in right now, meaning the new units and whatever else there will be. After all the technical stuff, then we can have some Epic Battles
Erik and Brian hit the nail on the head; since I've taken an immediate leave of absense without much, if any notice at all, I've left quite a few important updates to drag on for a further two months give or take.
These updates consist of:
Support Staff "Live-Tests". ~ These have been talked about for the past few months and may run for the next month as the tests are volunteer based and actual battles fought out between members here. So it will be a lengthy, but far more realistic process that will test our trainee staff, than a test-sheet with predicted answers.
Divisional Update. ~ I'm yet to write up a whole new array of rules and guidelines for the divisional update. Along with divisions becoming "Staff monitored" to prevent phantom and editable mistakes upon the member's behalf when dealing with divisional rosters (editing NPCs for example).
Not just that, but there will be "Divisional Chairmen" (two appointed staff), that will be dealing with the divisional area on a regular basis. These chairmen will also have say on whether you're allowed to create a division or expand your division any larger - such as rank requirements. Let's face it, a second lieutenant didn't exactly command a battallion...
So this will help heed the realism some more, with the chairmen keeping a firm eye over the divisions. So if you ever wanted to create a division, you've have to propose your case to the chairmen with "why" and "how" you plan on making an appropriate division that will serve the website and it's members well. This should cut-out new members randomly making divisions with little or no combat experience on the website, which in turn would only create failed divisions due to lack of funds and experience.
Right now, they're the two top updates you can expect to be running it's course. Other updates to incur, will be staff promotions (Strumfelder) and staff powers increased (Global Mod code access) for example.
All I can ask, is your patience. Epic battles have been known to fail a lot in the past, due to requirements of constant activity and a lot of hard work to keep it running. You can expect the D-Day landings to be reinacted in time to come, but as of now, I'm sorry to say it's a no-go. ~Danny

They're more or less completed, the only one left to be added is the "Russians" and from what I last knew, Erhard Strumfelder was left to his own devices with that update.
If he hasn't been able to complete it by the time I get the divisional update and staff promotions completed, I'll probably take the update on myself, as a good chunk of it has already been completed in the staff area; although Erhard Strumfelder has a better understanding and from what I remember, a better idea on how to make the Russian update unique. So I allowed him to run with it.
Push come to shove, I'll complete the nationality update once I've done my current share of work.
Then we only need to concerntrate on the Japanese nationalty when we tackle the Naval Battles by the end/start of next year. Will most probably the largest update in IO history, so that will take a very long time to complete, as we'd have to;
~ Create a whole new battle scheme for Naval battles. ~ New hostile/neutral areas. ~ Brand new shop area for naval ships and boats. ~ Brand new shop area for the Japanese units. ~ New array of aircrafts for the pilots (and possible battle scheme revamp)
Urggh, the list goes on the more I think about that update, but yes, the Russian nationality is the last to be added to complete the nationality update. ~Danny
