If I was to buy a jeep, could I throw a massive red cross on the side, remove the MG (and give it to soem infantry) and use it as an off-road ambulance for Medevac?

That wouldn't be a bad idea, actually. The only thing we have close to that, you may say, is the ambulance, but I do not see it doing well in some terrain though...

Better off just purchasing a transport truck, could save CP and you get a bigger haul load of dead bodies? May not be as great off road though, still, next best option. - Raf

The ambulance should just be like the convoy truck, regardless of the shop picture. Plus it probably comes with much better stuff.
Well the thing is the convoy truck can transport about 14 corpses...er... wounded soldiers.
The ambulance on the other end could only carry about 2 soldiers as it says 2 stretchers. So you either get that wimpy little car with a few extra hands/equipments to help the men. Or you bring in a truck to haphazardly transport 14 men. If you managed to get 14 men killed. Its really up to your choice. The ambulance provides better treatment but less space, the truck provides more space but less treatment.
