- Damian was born in 1915 in Dordecht, South Holland, a major province in the Netherlands to an Aryan father and a German-Dutch mother, the former a respected doctor in the local community and the latter a schoolmistress. A relatively normal child, Damian nevertheless grew up believing himself to be more pure than his Dutch neighbours and claimed that he was closer to God. Embracing religion at an extremely early age, he was an extremely inquiring and intelligent boy but was innocent and easily manipulated by those who saw fit to do so to him.
The small family lived in general obscurity until the SS-Ahnenerbe formed in 1935 and Damian's father, Gustav, was recruited into its ranks as one of the division's primary medical minds who travelled Europe in search of archaelogical evidence of the Nordic race's supremity in history. He retired after four years of service and returned to the family home in Dordrecht where his twenty year-old son was but weeks away from attending the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, a highly-respected university in Berlin.
When war broke out that same year, the townspeope of Dordrecht grew uneasy at having a substantial Nazi sympaphiser and his family in their presence and they drove them out of the settlement violenly. Damian's mother, Ana, was killed in the brutal attack while the fleeing Damian and Gustav were seperated as they crossed the border into Germany.
Using the family name to full advantage, Damian joined the division his father had served under before him and by 1941 had risen to the rank of Sturmscharführer, serving primarily as one of the division's many geologists, he was also a skilled combatant and was soon seen as being one of the deadliest men within the organisation, intent on proving the Aryan race's purity before his rivals and, above all, God.
