For those of you who loved this site, please continue to read. I started my "career" as a writer here, just shortly after the whole Winters thing happened. It saddens me to see such a great community crumble to pieces, for unknown reasons. This obvious one would be that no one is interested in WWII anymore. Writing about WWII is my favourite thing to do, but its not something I can do alone.
This is where YOU come in. If you are reading this, and would like to join me....keep reading.
What if we made a new site, with a different era? Korean War, Vietnam, Cold War (Slightly Fiction), Modern or possibly in the future. I know leaving this site in the stone age seems like a bummer, but i'd hate to see such a great group of guys and gals left in the shadows.

As the last action hero Admin, I'd endorse a successor to Issuing Orders. I'll write up a post-mortem of IO at some point to illuminate some of the mistakes and missteps we made here.

I'd be up for it. I still very much like RPing WW2---but moving on to like a new era mixed with fiction sounds like a good idea. So if you guys will still have me, I'd gladly join.

Holy shit I didn't think anyone was gonna reply! Thank god you guys are still around .
I just finished a busy part of my course in school, so I'll have a bit more time on my hands. I'll post here when I've made the new forum, unless someone else wants to make it. We don't necessarily have to decide right now what era we wanna write it, but it would most certainly help.
So for starters, how about a new name for the site?

If we wanna go for like a modern version/espionage (spys) etc. I donno if anyone has seen the movie Kingsmen yet. But that would be a fun concept to do.

Well, if it were Cold War-era, I was thinking something... cold. Cold Blooded or something. Fits for military and espionage, and refrigeration roleplaying.
Sorry for not replying sooner. Been studying Marine thingies.
My only regret is in saying goodbye to all these characters
Going retrograde, I'd be interested in a Napoleonic RP. Reading about the 600,000-man Battle of Nations has me interested.
It would be interesting, but not a lot of people have knowledge on that era. Plus, how would a mod manage that many people?
Players are officers and command entire companies/regiments etc. Had a thought about a game like that once. Battles would play put more like a hex-based wargame.
Fosho. I remember reading about how it took 200-500 shots for a single casualty. They wouldn't be maps of 600 guys against 600 guys, but of companies or regiments against the same.
You are absolutely right about knowledge of the era, Sergeant. I know very little about it, and most people are probably the same.
I've been thinking about how it would fit as a whole. Instead of cramming a 6v6 into one thread, why not split them up based on a larger campaign map, delegated by command? It's pretty flexible for any kinds of design changes that would be desired. Be a chance to try out naval warfare, which isn't nearly as complicated as WW2 or Cold War Naval stuff.
As far as map-making, I'm shying away from the involvement required in well-done custom maps. I'm currently testing a method using Bing Maps, which has pretty much all the necessary tools. It has both marker and line tools, which can be used for depiction of infantry lines, battery locations, as well as movement and firing points of both.
All depends on interest. It's useless if nobody gives a shit.
