I only have a few words to say in response to moderating a large battle: "Moderating is a bitch"
Let us leave it at that, not in a million years would myself or any other staff member be able to moderate a thread with anymore than 4+ members conjoined in a battle effectively. Anymore than four members and you suddenly find yourself lurching over the keyboard, ranting words to yourself as you try and comprehend everyone's exact movements, actions and speech all at once. Blows your mind - duuuude.

......... I'd give it a go... I would set up a command center, have pages of information printed out and tacked onto a cork board, eery spare moment would be spent in the command center like room going over troop movements and reviewing actions taken... It would be a monumental task.
Least that's what I think it would take, and to be honest, who would really be willing to put that much effort into it when modding a small battle is taxing enough.... I'd still give it a go Hahhahaha.
Plus. Danny, your prediction as to how I would react to such a battle taking place as what side I would choose is spot on. Think you know me or something? Haha

I just picture Punk and the rest of the staff running around in CC doing that. Lots of Hawaiian shirts and MASH references were involved.

Lmao, I have the urge to create a picture of the staff-team hanging around a table in Hawaiian shirts, drinking tea (or coffee) and building stuff with Lego... ;D Ohh yeahh!
And Seejay, I'm sure you'd give it a go, but trust me, a large battle to moderate is extremely taxing on the brain. Not only are you moderating member actions and NPC actions, but you also have to make sure all movements/actions performed and done so within a specific time-frame; members can't use up minutes of gameplay and expect the enemy not to be doing anything during that time, durr.
So you have all the counter-actions to moderate on behalf of the opposing member - if there are any - and everything else that has to go with that!!! Environment, weather, time-of-day, visibility, emotions & nerve, morale, skill-points, NPC experience/veterancy, etc... etc... etc...
You have to take EVERYTHING into consideration and deter how it will affect actions and movements performed within the battle. Members assume just running around means "just running around", but in actual fact if morale is low, running around will feel painful in just it's self to perform. If the weather is bad, no doubt someone in all that heavy gear is going to slip or hurt themselves. If they're inexperienced, no doubt they're going to be nervy.
When you have X-Amount of members in one battle with X-Amount of NPCs/Vehicles all ranging from different specialties, ranks, experience and weaponry. Then members during their posts attempt to do as many things as they possibly can; whether it's assaulting several positions at once or running around half the map in an attempt to do different things... Trust me, it's not easy in the slightest. ~Danny

Oh I know it's not easy. I never doubted the difficulty in moderating for a second... I'm just saying, if sheets of relevant information on said soldiers/vehicles was printed out and each move was run through a formula or checklist then, it could be done. E.g. Tom charges the enemy, spraying fire from his Thompson as he runs. Apply the formula.
Action intended (is it particularly difficult?) + Skill points (How high is his endurance/strength/firearms?) - carry load (how much is he carrying?) - situation (is he under fire?) - environment/weather (is his path clear and would the weather affect the action?) - enemy's reaction (how quickly would his targets notice and what would their reaction be?) = outcome of action.
AI+SP-(CL+S+E/W+ER)= ?
If that formula was applied and each action resolved first individually then overviewed on the whole (Would this all happening at once make sense?) then it would be much easier to mod massive battles. (my theory only, as I haven't actually modded a battle before) It would take a while... But it could be done. Know what I mean?
Don't read this in an arguing tone, read it like a student presenting something to a teacher.
